I trudged through the dead leaves on the side of the road. I didn't know where I was walking to, but I knew that I just had to be away from all the people who have hurt me.
Confusion was prominent in my mind. Everything was too much to take in. I'm angry. I'm angry for knowing the truth because I'd been lied to my whole life. But at the same time, I'm angry that I know now. My life was fine before I found out. It was a simpler time. I'd do anything to undo the past few days. I don't want to remember.
The sun was setting and a light breeze blew. Dense groupings of trees stood over my head as I continued down the path to nowhere. I inhaled the cool air and enjoyed the silence.
Interrupting my moment of peace was a car blasting music and speeding down the street. I looked back at it and continued walking forward. The blue car slowed down as it grew closer.
The passenger seat window was opened.
I glanced in without coming to a stop. I saw a guy with blonde hair driving the car. A younger girl with red hair sat in the passenger seat.
"Need a ride?" His raspy tone yelled from the car.
I shook my head "no" and continued walking. His car inched with me, staying close behind.
I overheard a conversation between him and the young girl. "Get out." He ordered.
"What?" She asked.
"You heard me, get out of the car!"
After that, the passenger side door flew open and the young girl hopped out in tears.
I stopped walking and turned to her.
Before I could say a word to comfort her, the guy demanded I get in the car.
"I'm not leaving her." I argued.
"She knows how to get home." He said carelessly.
Before arguing further, the little girl looked at me and said, "It's okay. Go. He's not going to stop."
I contemplated. Why should I get in the car with this rude stranger?
"Really, go." She whispered as if it were for her own good.
I hesitantly opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat. The car wreaked of cigarette smoke. The moment I closed the door, he hit the gas and sped down the road.
"So what were you doing wandering around alone?" He asked.
"Thinking." I stated without elaborating. I just wanted this to be over and I didn't want to give him any satisfaction for dumping that little girl out onto the street and forcing me to get in his car.
"About what?" He took another puff of smoke.
"Things I'd rather forget." I peered out the window watching the trees go by.
"I know how to make you forget." He smirked.
