The clock said 7 am when I woke up in Steve's arms. I gently moved a strand of hair out of his face. He crinkled his nose, but his eyes remained closed.

"Hey, that tickles." He chuckled. I smiled as he pulled me closer. "I missed you so much." His voice was groggy. I was so attracted to his morning voice.

"Wake up, sleepy head. We have school." I insisted, trying to peel myself out of his grip.

"Can't we skip a day?" He groaned.

"It's Friday, we have the weekend to sleep in."

"I want to sleep in today." He whined.

I gave up. Honestly a day off wouldn't be so bad. My classes weren't even hard and school was the least of my concerns.

Steve began snoring quietly, indicating he quickly fell back to sleep. Moments later, I did the same.

Around 10 a.m., we both were woken up by a knock at the front door downstairs. Steve shot up and ran to get it. I yawned and stretched, taking my time.

When I reached downstairs, Steve was talking to Nancy by the front door. As relieved as I was to see her, I knew this mess was far from over. They stepped into the kitchen and I followed. Her curly hair was in a low ponytail and she looked as if she barely slept, if she even slept at all.

"They won't let him go." She announced. "What do they want with my brother? They can't just keep him."

I remember the folder I found at the lab. Without a word, I ran upstairs to retrieve my bag. "What's she doing?" I heard Nancy ask Steve. He didn't answer because he truly didn't know. I failed to mention that Jonathan, Dustin, Lucas, and I took a trip to the lab yesterday.

Steve and Nancy waited quietly for me to explain when I returned. I emptied the contents of my bag onto the kitchen table. They looked in amazement.

"Jonathan and I took this from Mike's room in the lab."

"You went back there?" Steve questioned. I nodded.

Nancy shuffled through the prescriptions and liquid medicines for injections. She picked some up, reading descriptions of each. I held the folder still.

"Nanc," I spoke. She looked at me and I handed her the folder.

She placed it on the table and spread out the papers. The three of us peered down to examine. I pushed his photograph to the side, paying more attention the the paper beneath it. I subtly tugged at Steve's sleeve to get his attention. He stepped closer and looked at the paper.

It read:

"Experiment 0016: retry of missing Experiment 0011."

After the brief statement, we both gasped.

Nancy shot us a nervous look and I revealed the sheet to her. I bit my nails, anticipating her reaction. Steve placed his hand around my waist, stroking comfortingly with this thumb.

"Oh no." She cried. "We have to get him back. We need to."

"I know we do. And we will." Steve assured her. I nodded in agreement.
