Caught Up (Steve Harrington- Stranger Things)

Part 21

*Kristen's POV*

I woke up at 6 a.m. next to Billy. My head pounded. While I didn't remember details about the night before, I knew what happened. I wasn't ashamed, but I wasn't proud. It was nice to feel carefree for a little while. 

Billy looked so peaceful when he slept. There was a softness to him that I hadn't seen before. He's wild and loud and rude. But when he slept, he looked gentle and calm. 

"Don't," he spoke without opening his eyes.

"Don't what?" I questioned.

He opened his eyes, lying on his back. Holding up his pointer finger, he stated, "Don't watch me when I sleep," holding up a second finger, "Don't fall for me," and holding up a third finger, "And don't let the door hit you on the way out." 

With that, he turned over and went back to sleep. 

I was disgusted with the lack of respect this guy has. I didn't put up a fight. I knew it would go nowhere. 

I crept out of his bed and tied my shoelaces. As I quietly creaked open his door, the little girl walked up the stairs and into the hallway. I tried to retreat and hide behind his door, but it was no use. She saw me. 

"It's okay, I'm used to this." She assured me. I'm not surprised that this is a common occurrence in this house. 

"I was just leaving." I said beginning to walk down the hall. 

"He gave you the speech, didn't he?" 

I turned around. "What speech?"

In a mocking tone, she said, "Don't watch me sleep, don't fall for me, and don't let the door hit you on the way out."

I chuckled at her accuracy. 

The aggravated slam of his door made us jump. 

"Get out!" He yelled from his room. 

We winced. 

The red haired girl walked towards me. "I'm Max." She whispered, politely holding out her hand. 

I shook it and introduced myself. "Do you want to go get some breakfast, Max?" I asked. I didn't have many people to turn to, but she seemed like she didn't either. 

She smiled sweetly and nodded in agreement. "I'd like that."
