"You think you saw Mike?" Steve questioned after I told him my memory.
"Yes." I insisted. "How else would I be able to draw his face with these details?" I grazed my fingers over the drawing. "I remember. He was concerned about me, he didn't look afraid himself."
"Well how can we find him?" He intently looked at me waiting for a solution.
"I don't know." I sighed and contemplated. "Men from the lab rescued me! Maybe we can go there and tell them to go find Mike!" I eagerly suggested.
"If you're confident this'll work, I'll drive."
I ripped the drawing out of the notebook and ran down the stairs to leave. Steve went out my window to not be seen by my mother.
Before leaving, I told her that I was just going out with a friend for a few hours. That should give me enough time to help save Mike without worrying my mom.

The guard at the entrance of the lab recognized me and instantly allowed our car into the lot.
After parking and entering through the main doors, we wondered the halls in search of Dr. Owens. He was the doctor I met with the other day.
Steve followed close behind as I led the way. He trusted that I knew where I was going. There was a familiarity to me of this lab, but it was only coming back to me little by little.
"Kristen, can I help you?" I turned, looking over my shoulder and seeing Dr. Owens.
"This boy." I handed him my drawing of Mike. "He was in the Upside Down when I was. But he's still missing."
He examined the picture.
"Please find him." I begged.
Dr. Owens gave Steve and I a sympathetic look as he handed back to drawing. "I'm afraid it's unlikely that he's still there alive. It isn't a safe place for an average human."
"Can't you just look for him?" Steve asked.
"Yeah, can't you send those men in the Upside Down to look for him like they did for me." I added.
He thought for a moment. "I'll see what I can do." We watched as he walked past us and disappeared after turning the corner to a different hallway.
"I don't trust him." Steve whispered.
"I don't trust anyone here." I truthfully admitted. Determined to help find Mike, I walked forward toward the hallway that Dr. Owens went to.
"Wait up," Steve quickly caught up to me. "What are you doing?"
"Shh." I shushed him. "I'm trying to help Mike. If Dr. Owens isn't going to find him, we are."
I peeked past the corner, revealing an empty hallway with doors aligned on each side. I stepped cautiously toward a door. It was locked when I tried to turn the knob. Steve kept aware of our surroundings, glancing around as a lookout would.
I tried to open multiple doors that failed to open. I walked further down, past a window. I quickly glanced as I walked by, but something caught my attention. I walked backwards, and Steve and I immediately stopped in front of the window. Mike. It was Mike.
His hands were tied to the chair he was seated on. Wires were strapped all over his body as if he were some kind of test subject.
"We have to get in there." I said.Steve rushed to the door of the room, attempting to silently force the door open. He jiggled the door knob and pushed against the door with his entire body. He backed up against the opposing wall, peered to his left and right, then looked straight forward at the door. His face revealed determination. He ran a moment at the door and kicked it down. "Go, go, go," we hurried in the room.
Mike turned to us, confused. A blank stare was on his face.
Steve put the door back in tact to ensure that it wouldn't draw attention. He kept his back pressed up against the door while I struggled to detach all of the wires and untie Mike.
Footsteps were heard in the hall.
"Hurry, Kristen." Steve whispered warning me.
My fingers fumbled around the ropes keeping Mike tied to the chair. He remained silent and emotionless.
"What's wrong with him?" I questioned.
Steve quickly responded, "We don't have time, just get him out of here."
At last, the last knot was untied and Mike was free. He sat still. I flipped some hair out of my face. An IV looking needle was in his arm. I carefully removed it, cringing. "It's this." I held the needle. "They injected him with something that drained his energy."Steve rushed over and threw Mike over his shoulder. "We gotta go." He stated. I peered out the window, revealing the empty hall again.
"Go." I ordered.
We stepped out into the hallway and cautiously traveled around the lab, and hurried out the main doors.
Once we reached the outdoors, we ran as fast as we could. Steve placed Mike in the backseat and raced to the drivers seat. I buckled my seat belt.
Out of my side mirror, I saw Dr. Owens glancing at our car from the main doors of the lab.
"Floor it." I told Steve.
Steve did as I said and sped to the exit gate, crashing through it before the gate could be lifted. He continued speeding down the road, slowing down when we were out of sight of the lab.
