"We need a plan." Dustin suggested as we parked in the lab's parking lot for the second time today.

"I am going to talk to Dr. Owens. He knows me and I somewhat trust him." I declared.

"Dustin and I can sneak around the lab and look for them." Lucas announced.

"What about me?" Jonathan asked.

"Drive the getaway car." I smirked. I felt like a superhero honestly. This was exciting, but clearly terrifying. Adrenaline was running through my veins.

Dustin, Lucas and I hopped out of the car and began approaching the main doors of the lab.

"We meet back at the car in a half hour whether we find them or not. Got it?" I spoke. The boys nodded.

"This place isn't safe

"This place isn't safe."

I'd lost sight of the boys after entering the lab. I traveled down various hallways, leading the the one I remember being taken to when I met with Dr. Owens.

Luckily, he was in his office. I knocked on the door and stood in the doorway.

"Kristen, please, come in. Can I help you?" He greeted, sitting at his desk.

I took a seat in front of him. "I need to find my friends and I know they were taken here." I said bluntly.

"Kristen, you know we can't just...give them back to you." He leaned back in his chair.

"Is this some kind of game to you?" I asked, disgusted.

He rolled his chair up to his desk and straightened his posture. "No, this is a serious matter. So serious that I can't discuss it with you. Now please, be on your way."

I shook my head no.

He winked at me, subtly. "Must I show you out?"

I stood up from my chair and allowed the doctor to lead me to the parking lot.

"There's cameras everywhere in that lab, Kristen. I can't give you much information, but out here, I'll try." He explained.

I intently listened.

"Mike was meant to be the only one brought back here. His sister apparently put up too much of a fight and they brought her here too. She'll be released tonight and taken back home. Her brother though, he was in the Upside Down for days. We must monitor him to ensure he hasn't been infected."

"Infected?" I questioned. "This morning he was unresponsive, Nancy told me. What does that mean?"

"It is a symptom of the infection."

"Well can you cure him?" My voice got louder. He shushed me.

"I am doing all that I can."

I thought for a moment. Should I tell him what I saw in the folder? Before contemplating much, my mouth spoke, "Why did his chart say "Experiment 0016""?

"Quiet down," he placed his hand on my shoulder and peered around. "How do you know about that?"

"It doesn't matter. Just tell me."

"I can't. It's too dangerous. Now, go home, Kristen. Go now." He left me and reentered the lab.

I ran back to the car, and moments later, Lucas and Dustin followed.

"We couldn't find them." Lucas said, disappointed.

"Did you find out anything?" Dustin asked.

"Maybe, but who knows what's true."
