Friday, 9th December 2016 - Sitting next to Prey

Dear Diary

When I went to the senior study room before school started, I noticed that Prey was sitting by himself. Intruder wasn't with him as she normally was. I assumed that she was simply late, and would be here later. However, she was not. During the first classes before recess, I noticed that quite a few people were away. Had they all gotten sick at once?

During recess, it only became even more apparent that many people had taken the day off school. Not even Mouse was here today. Luckily, Bear was.

Just as the bell went for the next class, a teacher called upon me to help her with a task. It was rather simply really, and probably could have been done without me. It was carrying a few boxes from the staffroom to her next classroom. Simple as it was, it did manage to make me late for my current class.

However, when I arrived at my class, it was a lot more full than normal. I later found out that due to the amount of people being sick and away, the classes had decided to join for today. Even more surprising was the only spare seat. It was right next to Prey.

I don't know how he did it, but just as he had promised, Mouse had managed to get me to sit next to Prey.

During the class, I kept on trying to talk to Prey, but I didn't really know what to say. At one point, he even went so far as to ask me a question. My response was rather short. We sat in an awkward silence.

Eventually, we were forced to talk as a result of the work that we were doing.

While it started vague and incoherent, it soon turned to a much more comfortable talking. Eventually we were even having a nice conversation.

That was quite nice.

Whatever Mouse had done, he had done well.

All I needed now was to sit next to him for every class.
