Tuesday, 24th January 2017 - Lion: An Abhorrent Taste

Dear Diary

I didn't know what it was exactly that the police were doing, but I did know that they were still there. Long into the night, the amount of noise that was coming from outside. It sounded like several attempts had been made to try and get the door open. Just as Slayer had predicted, all of their attempts had failed. Despite the bunker's obvious age and bad condition, it was still strong enough to resist any of their attempts to get in.

All the while, Bear's condition continued to deteriorate, She definitely needed medical care as soon as possible. Additionally, she increasingly needed larger amounts of food and water. All of these it appeared that she would not have access too.

I spent several hours trying to talk to her. Initially, we just talked about whatever came to mind. I was afraid for her, and really just wanted to make sure that she was still awake and conscious. We both directly avoided talking about our current situation, and about Prey and Intruder.

Slayer's torture of Intruder didn't even start until past noon. I knew that he was awake. I could hear him in the other room. I had no idea what he could possibly doing which was more important to him than continuing his work with Intruder.

Eventually, we did find out.

Slayer slammed open the door to the room we were in. We walked in bearing two bowls. Bear moaned weekly. It was probably going to be more of the water which he had slowly trickled to us.

He carefully placed them down in front of us, with a large grin on his face.

"You girl's must be hungry" he said, almost sweetly. "Here's a nice little treat I whipped up for you."

I pulled myself up to a sitting position. This continued to be both difficult and painful, as my hands were still chained to the pole rather tightly. Inside both bowls were medium pieces of cooked meat. It looked a little bit like beef. There were also a few cooked vegetables to go on the side. Normally it would have looked rather plain to me, but today it looked like some of the best food I had seen in a long time. However, I was suspicious. If there was one I that I wasn't going to be doing now, it was trusting anything that was given to me by this person.

"What is it?" I asked, looking up at him.

"Steak." he replied, looking at me as if that was the most obvious thing in the world.

"What type of steak is it?" I asked, alarmed at how he might have gotten steak.

"I came prepared to stay here for a while, why wouldn't I have brought some meat?"

"What type of meat is it?" I asked more firmly.

He smiled at me. Strangely, it never seemed to reach his eyes.

"Enjoy" he said, before turning away and leaving.

He slammed the door behind him. He had been doing this for days, but it still made me jump every time he did it. I looked at the bowls that had been set in front of me. My mouth watered. I was hungry for any type of food that I was able to get. Yet, this seemed too good. This was not something that I wanted to just accept.

Meanwhile, Bear was restless. She smelt the food. In her state, she certainly wasn't going to be thinking clearly enough to ignore the food. Luckily though, she wasn't able to get to the food without my assistance.

The most she was able to do was pull herself up, but that was all. Even that much was a struggle, and she was not able to keep it up for long, quickly collapsing back to the ground.

"Lion, the food?" she asked.

"I don't think we should" I told her.

She turned and looked at me.

"Why not?"

"I don't trust him."

She nodded, before gently closing her eyes and laying her head back down. Intruder's torturer's continued soon after this. I closed my eyes and covered my ears, Anything to block out the horrible screams and cries for help.

It didn't work.

It never did.

"DON'T EAT THE MEAT!" It was the loudest thing I had ever heard her yell, even beating the time she had shouted at Prey when it looked like he had been cheating on her.

"It's too late" Slayer said to her, loud enough for us to hear. "They've had it for hours, your warning was far too late. Why do you think I waited this long to tell you?"

I jolted up. I had been right. I still didn't know what was inside the bowls, but I kicked them both away as far as I could.

It appeared that Slayer had heard the clattering of the bowls as, seconds later, the door slammed open. The grin on his face quickly turned to disgust.

"You turned down my gift!" he shouted at us. He picked up on of the pieces of meat, and turned towards me. "If you will not eat it willingly, I guess I'll just need to make you eat it."

As he got closer towards me, I tried to kick him away. Unfortunately, he had the advantage, superior strength and not being tied down. He grabbed my legs and shoved the slab of meat right up under my nose.

"What is it?" I asked, my voice partially smothered by the food.

Pronouncing every syllable clearly, he said

"Why don't you ask your friend in the other room"

Suddenly, it dawned on me what it was. It was Intruder. The arm which had been removed...Slayer had cooked it and tried to feed it to us!

"No" I said, horrified. I went cold. Everything seemed cold. Numbness quickly replaced the sensation of overwhelming fear.

"NO" I said, ignoring all of the pain that I felt, headbutting him as hard as I could.

He staggered backwards, throwing the piece of meat away as he tried to stop himself from falling down. He failed, falling into a heap on the ground.

He scrambled up as fast as he could, murder in his eyes. Just as it looked like he was going to make do on his intentions, he stopped. He took a large breathvand started laughing.

Even this sound was chilling, but I preferred it to the screams. Anything was better than the never ending screams.

"Your time will come soon enough, I am almost done with her" he said, obviously talking about Intruder.

"In fact..." he said, walking into the other room. When he returned, he also came with the chair that Intruder was chained to. He aggressively rolled it towards us. When it was at a close distance to Bear and I, he pushed the chair over.

Intruder hit the ground with a 'CRASH'.

"Tomorrow will be her last day alive, I think she should at least be able to talk to her friends, don't you?"

Laughing again, he walked out of the room, slamming the door shut behind me. I jumped at the sound.

Intruder lifted her head from the ground and looked at the door. She started crying. She did not stop crying.
