Thursday, 26th January 2017 - Lion: Breaking Out
Dear Diary
Thankfully, Slayer did not start with Bear as soon as he took her to the other room. She really wasn't in a good condition, and Slayer explained to me quite specifically that they needed to be awake. The screams were almost as good as the actual act of slicing the human. He also told me that he would have spent days with the corpse, turning it into a collection of skin, bones and organs. However, he was going to kill all of us first. I guessed that, at the very least, I was able to take a little bit of comfort in that.
The body of Intruder had been left where it had fallen, although the chains and the chair had been removed. She was lying in a rapidly drying pool of her own blood. It was a horrible sight to see. It was an even worse sight to have to be forced to spend with for hours upon hours.
Bear's condition, which had previously seemed to be rather precarious, was now her saviour.
My hands continued to be amazingly painful whenever I used them. They had been chained up rather tightly to the pole for almost a week now, held in place by a metal pin which slid through the chains. I had tried extensively to try and slide the small pin out, but so far I had achieved nothing. It was just wedged in so tightly. This Slayer person knew what he was doing. The only thing that could possibly help me now was another pin.
I tried to ignore the corpse sprawled in front of me. It was not a sight that I wanted to see, but I still felt drawn to it. Looking at anything else became more and more difficult. I wasn't even able to think of anything else.
For several hours, I lay where I had been chained. I kept my eyes tightly shut. I didn't want to see anything that was in front of me, and this seemed to be the best way to avoid seeing any of it. Sometimes the images would creep into my mind. Every time this occurred, I would quickly try to get them out. The only thing worse than seeing them was the distorted and exaggerated images which came into my mind.
These were very soon replaced with something far more chilling. Bear was awake. Slayer know this as well. This was the reason I knew. Her screams had begun. I thought everything that I had heard from Intruder was the worst thing I had ever heard, but that was nothing compared to what I was hearing now. Before it had been Intruder. Her screams had only been chilling as she was a fellow human being in pain. But Bear, to me, was far more important. She was my best friend, I spent almost everyday with her. It was such a familiar voice to me, now screaming out in pain and terror. I had no idea what Slayer could be doing to her.
Desperately, I tried to escape my bonds. I struggles and moved them as much as I could. Days of not using my hands made them throb, but I needed to get out. I tried to pull the pipe away from the wall, but that was no use. The pipe was too large and too securely held in place. There was no way that the chains were going to break either.
I needed a way to break out of these chains, but there was no way I could smash or distort them enough. Desperately, I tried anything that I could. I knew that it would not work, but I needed to save Bear! The noises coming from the other room were unbearable.
The pin, I needed a way to take the pin out. That was the only thing keeping me in these chains. I searched around for anything that I could use to try and push it out.
Then suddenly, I did see something that could help. Bear's chains. She had been tied up in the same way as I had. Slayer had used a small pin to lock her in place as well. However, when he had taken Bear out of her chains, he had left the discarded bindings. Not only that, the small pin had been left as well. If I could reach that pin, I would be out.
Using my feet, I tried to get it as fast as I could. However, in my eagerness to help Bear, I was only forcing it further away from myself. Taking a deep breath, I focused, and took care to get the pin as close as possible.
Within moments, it was just under my head.
I lowered my head to the floor, and picked up the pin with my mouth. The floor tasted of dust and blood, but I managed to pick up the pin.
I lifted my head up so that it was above my hands, and dropped the pin, hoping to catch it. I failed, and it rolled away. Luckily, it was still within distance, and within a matter of moments, I was able to try again.
I caught it the second time, and was able to use it to slowly push out the pin binding my hands together. Moments later, I was free. The chains rattled to the floor. Suddenly, the the need to save Bear gave way to fear. What if he had heard that? There was no way I would be able to overpower him without a weapon. I needed something.
I rushed over to the other side of the room and picked up the knife that Slayer had thrown shortly before killing Intruder.
Now I was ready. I didn't know exactly what I was going to do, but I needed to do it fast.
Another burst of agonizing screams from Bear took all rational thought away from me. I may be undernourished, sore, head throbbing with a broken nose, but I needed to act now.
I walked over to the door to the other room and threw it open, quickly racing towards Slayer.
He turned around at the noise and rather clumsily, I thrust the knife at him. It got him in his stomach. Blood started to pour out, quickly covering me. The colour drained from his face, before contorting into a vicious snarl. It was only going to be a matter of moments before he passed out, and he knew it. He lunged at me. Much of his strength may have been failing, but he still managed to pack a rather large punch.
I fell to the ground, cracking my head on the harsh concrete again. Everything went blurry again. White seemed to be taking over everything. I could dimly see Bear, chained to the chair. I wanted to go get her out, but I knew that I was too weak to do so. Besides, I couldn't feel my arm. What was wrong with it?
Slayer didn't seem to be moving anymore. I didn't care if he was dead or unconscious, I wanted him as far away from me as possible.
Using as much strength as I could, I dragged myself across the floor, back into the entrance room. I now knew that I needed to get the door open. I should have thought of this before, but I had been totally fixed on saving Bear. The authorities had to still be outside. They couldn't have just left.
Everytime I pulled myself along, I felt more weak. Each movement required many times more strength than the last, leaving me more and more tired.
After what seemed to be ages, I finally reached the door. For what was supposed to be a rather secure bunker, the lock was rather simple. I used the handle to pull myself up, and pulled the catch on the door. It swung open.
It was at that moment that all of my strength failed me. I collapsed to the floor again, this time meeting soft grass as opposed to hard concrete. To me, it seemed luxurious.
The sunlight flooded through my eyes. It was far brighter than what I had experienced, and the whiteness fully took over.
However, it soon turned to black.
Everything was dark.
Perhaps I hadn't been strong enough.
