Dear Diary

Freshly awakened, I prepared to set out on my daily ritual.

I sat cross legged on my floor, the blue carpet digging into my legs. I picked up my knife, the handle in one hand, it's holster in the other.

I unsheathed the blade as if I was about to sacrifice a creature, and brought it up to my nose.

I breathed in deeply, ready for the sweet smell of the dead animal to assault my nostrils.

But, nothing came.

There was no animalistic smell.

All that came was the usual smell of the knife.

It wasn't enough.

I needed a stronger smell, a better smell.

I stood up quickly, the veins in my neck throbbing, and my jaw clenched. I threw my knife as hard as I could into my bedroom wall.

I took a very deep breath in and closed my eyes. I felt that I was very angry. Releasing the breath, I opened my eyes and walked over to the section of wall that the knife had lodged itself in. It had gone straight to the hilt.

Inspecting it for a moment, I brought up my fist so that it was level with that area of the wall but slightly to the side, and punched it as hard as I could.

I checked my knuckles for any damage. There was none. I punched the wall again. And again, and again, until my fist started bleeding.

Later, I plugged one of the video cameras that I had received from my secret benefactor yesterday into the computer. It was rather difficult using only one hand, but it hurt far too much when I tried to use both hands.

I didn't know what I was hoping to find on there, but there was something on it. I was sure of it. I did not know how I knew, but that did not matter.

It only mattered that I did.

It was hidden rather well. In face, it took me almost an hour to find it. It was hidden rather well in a series of sub-folders, encrypted in a way so that it did not come up in anything other than a manual search of the folders.

It was a video of a horse. The horse was a rather fine chestnut, with a patch of white on it's left side. I didn't completely recognize the animal, although it did look very familiar to me. The video went for several minutes.

I watched it all several times.

The horse was walking past a barbed wire fence, which came up to the bottom of it's neck. There was a hole in the fence. When the horse came up to it in the video, he stopped at it, sniffing at it. He tried to fit his head through, but he quickly retreated as soon as he touched it. The fence appeared to be electric as well. However, a person would have been able to get through it easily.

The horse continued its journey, walking to what appeared to be a gate. At the gate was a rather large sign, declaring what the sight was. To my surprise, it was the nearby farm. In face, it was only about 15 kilometres from my house.

A very easy walking distance.

With a way in.
