Thursday, 2nd February 2017 - Lion: Taking off the Cast

Dear Diary

Mouse did not come to see me today. I had been told that I was not allowed to have any guests today. They had not really told me why. My arm cast was coming off today, although that did not seem to be the reason that I was unable to have guests. I wasn't even really sure why I had the cast on. I didn't really recall having any injury there, although I did remember not being able to feel it just before I had lost consciousness. Perhaps I had broken it, although I did not know how I could have managed that. To be honest, I didn't even know what I had done with my arm. After finding out that it was in a cast when I woke up, and noting the difficulty that I was going to have with it, I didn't really think about it. I was going to be able to see what exactly had happened to my arm later in the day. I spent most of the day before the cast was taken off remaining in my hospital room. I didn't want them to be unable to find me.

When it was time for the cast to be taken off, a nurse came to take me to another room. Inside that room was another nurse and a doctor. I was forced to lie down on the bed while they removed the cast. The doctor used a rather large saw to slowly cut it into two parts which would then simply be able to picked off. A few weeks ago, I would have thought this to be a rather terrifying experience, with the sound of the saw grating through the tough material, as well as being forced not to move from the position. Additionally, there would have been the fear of the doctor or nurse making a mistake and cutting too far. However, I didn't really mind now. This was probably as a result of my recent experience. I wondered just how much that had changed me, for better or for worse. I was sure that it would continue to plague me for quite some time. What a wonderful thing that was going to be.
