This is from Angelica's point of view.
I fidgeted with my thumbs, it was Friday again and I had walked with my sisters to PreK. I was sitting alone at a table. Peggy was on the floor in front of me taking deep breaths.
"Imma go to Hercman." Peggy jumped up and down and ran to Hercules, grabbing his hand and leading him to the arts and crafts section.
"Imma go to Hercman." I repeated. God. Even Peggy had more friends than me. I closed my eyes until I heard soft, rapid footfalls getting slightly louder with each one. I opened one eye.
"Hi Angelica!" Alex waved at me. He was wearing an oversized dark brown shirt and black pants that were folded up to fit him.
"Hi Alex!" My stomach rolled over from excitement. "I like your outfit.""It's George's. I mean- Mr.Washington's he gave it to me this morning before driving me to school. Do you know how fast Porche's go? He won it in a lottery he said!" Alex giggled.
"That's real interesting." I smiled.
"What's knew Angie?" Alex asked.
"Nothing. Would you like to go talk to Eliza?" I offered.
"I'd love nothing more!" Alex fawned. We walked over to wear Eliza and Maria were having a staring contest.
"Hi Eliza." I said.
"Maria!" Alex wrapped his hands around her and she hugged him back, breaking eye contact and blinking.
"I won!" Eliza jumped out of her seat.
"Good job Liza! You were incredible! No wonder you won!" Alex hugged her too, for longer. I cleared my throat."Anyway, sister. Alex. Have fun!" I walked off, feeling my stomach roll again, not in a good way. When I looked back, Alex and Eliza were holding hands and talking about kittens. Alex lead Eliza to Mr.W and convinced him to bring the kittens in the next day.
Eliza's point of view.
I saw Alex approach Angelica. Whatever. I looked back at Maria, don't blink. Don't blink. Then, in what seemed like an instant, they were over here, and Alex was hugging Maria. Does he like everyone but me?
"I won!" I yelled, needing a bit of attention."Good job Liza! You were incredible! No wonder you won!" He hugged me too and I embraced him. Holding him in place and nestling my head on his shoulder. He was warm and didn't smell like pee, unlike all the other boys. Then Angie cleared her throat and we stopped hugging.
She was glaring at me. "Anyway, sister." She seemed to spit. "Alex." She rolled her eyes, or she didn't, but it seemed like she did. "Have fun!" She was very sarcastic in saying this.
"Eliza, do you like kittens?" Alex asked me.
"I adore kittens!" I squealed."They are sooo cute! Last night I spent the night at Mr.Washington's and I named his kittens! DId you know he had kittens? I named one after you, Betsey!" Alex referred to the nickname Mr.W used for me. "I named one Philip too! And one Alex, and one Theodosia, and one Laurens, and one pie. I still have a few left!"
"That's cute!" I smiled at Alex, who yanked me from my chair, but grabbing my hand.
"Let's ask Mr.W to bring the kittens in!""Smart!" I commented, I'd never have ideas like that. Those were the ideas Angelica had, not I.
"Mr.Washy! Mr.Washy!" Alex and I ran up to him.
"Yes?" He bent down to look us in the eye."Can you bring Betsey and Philip in tomorrow? And pie!" Alex turned to me. "Pie is light brown with a red tail and the tips of her face fur is dark brown! It's like a burnt cherry pie with the filling oozing out." Alex explained.
"Sounds cute." I nodded."Maybe Alex. I don't know..."
"Please Mr.Washy! You'd make Alex and I so happy!" I wanted this because Alex did.
"Um..."
"Yeah! Liza and I really want this!"
"Alright. Fine."
The two of us enveloped Mr.Washy in a hug.
