His eyes glazed over the spot where he saw the boy in pink sitting, with a black eye, and another boy caring for him, or the table where two girls, one dressed in blue and one in pink were arguing, another two girls, yellow and light-orange or pinkish coloring, played with stuffed animals. Finally he skipped over to a table where the ponytail and white fluffed shirt was there also the boy who broke up the fight, he had a scratch on his face. One more boy sat with them, a boy with a dark blue shirt and dark blue pants, but his pants had little stars everywhere. He reached the table and waved at the other kids.
"Hi! Hi!" He said giddily.
"Salut- I mean- hi ami." The ponytail boy struggled to speak without an accent. "Je m'appelle Lafayette."
"I'm John Laurens." Said the star-pants boy. "We both go by our las' name- but his first is mark. Marcus. Uh-" As Laurens said this Alex couldn't help but notice he looked like he had just bit something incredibly nasty and couldn't get it out of his mouth onto his napkin. He tried and tried but just couldn't.
"Marquis!" Lafayette shouted. "Marquis de Lafayette!" He was red in the face, but he then rolled his eyes and shrugged.
"I am Hercules Mulligan." The third boy had a surprisingly deep voice despite the fact he had a flower tucked behind his ear and was wearing a sewn up potato sack.
"I'm Alexander Hamilton." He said, he didn't feel like introducing himself all over again, so he made up something on the spot. Spot, lot, not, got, hot, shot! Throw, shot, trash. "I am not throwing away my shot." He looked very pleased with himself and Laurens took a sip of his apple juice, which frankly, Alex thought was disgusting, when you could have pretty much any kind of juice, just apple?"Where'd you come up with that?"Laurens sprayed apple juice droplets everywhere, and Alex detached himself from the table, as he was clinging to it as if it was his only life force.
"There you are!" Alex heard the familiar voice of Aaron.
"Aaron Burr?" Laurens shouted. Alex spun around to face his new friend. The look on Aaron's face was one of horror, and glee. Gleeful that he had found Alex, horror that he had talked to John Laurens, and that Laurens knew his name, being the coolest kid in all of PreK.
"Sir." Aaron's voice was breathy, not like the voice Alex thought he knew so well. He bowed a little before him. Then stood up right again.
"Wait a sec- that's got a ring to it you know? Aaron burr? Sir! Haha." Laurens sing-songed it and laughed a little.
"I got you your juice Alex."Aaron said meekly."Alex? You know Aaron?" Hercules asked, he looked back and forth between Laurens, Aaron and Alex.
"Yep- he's my best friend." Alex could read expressions pretty well, he knew he was liked by this table group, and knew that his friend needed a good impression on this Laurens guy.
"Really?" Laurens looked disdainful.
"Yeah- met him a few days ago in the common." Aaron lied. Alex frowned, fibbing was one thing, lying was another."Briefly, basically just a wave, and then I saw him today and thought, ooh, a friendly face."Alex tried to cover up the lie.
"Anyways, here's your juice Alex." Though they were merely feet apart, Aaron felt a need to do something cool. He tossed the box in the air, it did a flip and landed on the table, skidding, but still landing upright.
"Whoa!" Laurens look of disdain was gone in an instant. "That was incredible! I wanna try! I wanna try!" Laurens grabbed the box, and threw it, only to have it land on it's side on the ground. "Oh well."
Aaron, feeling high and mighty that there was a cool thing that he was better at than Laurens was, tried with the other box, his own, it landed upside down, but looked cool even still. Alex bent down to pick up his box and looked at what kind it was.
"Apple Cider- last two bottles. Next week he'll have little eggnog cups! Golly those are good."Aaron's bit of cool life was washed over like sand in high-tide. Then an idea struck him."You guys want to come over to my house tonight? You can even- sleep over!"
"Oui!" Lafayette shouted, before waiting for anyone else's answer.
"Yeah!" Alex agreed."Uh-huh! That sounds so so great!" Hercules looked ecstatic.
"This will be fun!" Laurens used his own way of saying 'Yes.'
The rest of the school day was a blur- until they went over to Aaron's house, then the party started.
