Turning Back..

Chapter 13

Christmas had come and gone so fast and it was new years eve "So what are you going to do?" Jaime asked me as I sat on the end of the bed watching him get ready, I'd been feeling anxious all day because there was a new years party round Mike and Kacie's and we had all been invited by Kacie. The other's all thought I was still in England "I want to come, I need to finally face Vic" I announced taking a deep breath "my car's in your garage so, if you go in your car, then I'll come in mine but I'll go the long way round" Jaime nodded 

"Fine, well you'd better pack your stuff and get ready" I sighed and looked at Jaime as he looked angrily into the mirror at his appearance "Jaime, you know I'm really thankful that you let me stay here and I don't want things to be odd after I leave" Jaime sighed and turned to me

"I just wish you knew how much I cared about you Deven and I may as well say it now" he bent down and grabbed my hands in his "I love you Deven Marie Fuentes and I care about you so, so much" I swallowed as he stood up "Look, I'll see you at the party" he grabbed his jacket and left, closing the door behind him. I walked out of the room and across the hallway to where I had been staying flinging open the suitcase which was still on the floor and placing the few belongings I had actually take out of the case and putting them back in. I zipped it up and grabbed the dress I was going to wear tonight. I pulled off my PJ's, I hadn't bothered to get changed today. Once I was ready I grabbed my leather jacket from in the hallway and took a deep breath, looking in the small framed mirror above the telephone table before leaving the apartment and heading to the garage. I shoved my suitcase into the trunk of my car and got into the drivers seat heading through the city to Mike and Kacie's.

Arriving outside, I parked up on the curb and just stared at the house. The back gate was open and I took another deep breath before getting out of the car. I walked cautiously through the back gate and turned the corner seeing Mike, Kellin and a few of Mike's friends stood around what I could only describe as boxes of fireworks. I waved and Mike instantly ran over to me "Deven, you are back! How was England?" I nodded

"Y-yeah it was fine" he tilted his head at me, I was nervous as hell and he could tell "Sorry I'm just a little tired from the flight but I didn't want to miss the party" he smiled at me 

"come, everyone else is inside" I nodded and followed Mike through the french doors into the living room where there was a lot of people. I saw Kacie stood with Jaime, Tony and of course Vic, I smiled and waved at Kacie who ran over to me with Tony. Vic and Jaime stayed where they were which didn't surprise me but I wish Jaime would just act normal. He'd promised me he would act normal and not say a word to Vic that I'd actually been staying at Jaime's and not my parents. "It's so good to see you!" Kacie announced giving me a huge squeeze I hugged her back and looked at Vic and Jaime over her shoulder. They were both looking at me Jaime looked mad and Vic looked sorry I looked away and pulled away from Kacie giving Tony a hug "How are you holding up?" he asked me, I smiled at him "As ok as I can be" I stated and he nodded before rubbing my upper arm and walking back over to the guys "What did you do to Jaime Dev? He's been acting really weird ever since he got here" I groaned at Kacie's question

"He will be fine" I assured her and I followed her as she made her way over to where the other's were, my heart was racing and the only space left in the little circle was next to Vic, I walked into it and looked directly opposite me at Jaime who smiled at me "It's good to see you again Deven" I smiled at him "You too Jaime" Kacie was smirking so I nudged her a little and she cleared her throat "Dev did you want a drink?" she asked and I nodded "Ok I'll be back in a sec" she disappeared and it was just me, Jaime, Tony and Vic left. I could feel Vic burning holes into the side of my head and it made me feel uncomfortable. Jaime suddenly just walked away not even telling anyone where he was heading to, I looked up at Tony as he started to shuffle over to a different group of people and I knew they were all doing this on purpose to leave me and Vic along for a while. 

I folded my arms across my chest and looked anywhere but at him, after only a few seconds I had to walk away only to have my wrist grabbed by him, I turned to look at him and he looked up at the ceiling before pulling me into his chest, I shivered and took in his familiar scent and I suddenly missed being in his arms. He held me close, but I still couldn't bring myself to forgive him. "I was worried you hadn't gone to England with your parents Dev, you really should have let me know" I groaned into his chest and pulled away "why Vic? It didn't matter where I went as long as I was no where near you" he looked hurt for a second and I was glad

"Deven, you are still my wife whatever happened between me and Jenna meant nothing. I love you" I parted my lips at him "You said that the last time you slept with her, if she really didn't mean anything to you, you wouldn't have made the same 'mistake' twice" he suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me down the corridor to the bathroom and shoved me through the door before shutting and locking it I sat down on the toilet seat and stared blankly at the door "Deven, listen to me, I was mad that night ok, I went out with Jenna and things just happened!" I rolled my eyes at him

"Yeah Vic, things don't just happen like that" I got up and went to leave but Vic stepped in front of my with his back against the wall "We aren't leaving this room until you realize how sorry I am and you forgive me" I sighed and sat back down on the toilet seat "When you were in England I realized how much I do love you, I hated that you were mad at me, I hated that you gave me your engagement and wedding ring back, it tore me in two" I looked up at him "You, well I was convinced you'd been sleeping with Jacky ok" I sighed 

"I didn't sleep with Jacky, I would never do that to you" as I said that I realized I had done it. I'd slept with Jaime and that was probably a lot worse. I swallowed and stood up before wrapping my arms around him. He wrapped his arms around my waist "I'm sorry Vic" 

"We'll get through this Deven. We always do" I nodded into his chest and jumped when there was a knock on the door "come on, who's in there, I need to pee!" Mike shouted and I chuckled as Vic unlocked the door to let us out. Mike gave us a funny look "Have you two made up then?" I smirked at him before grabbing Vic's hand and going back into the living room "Oh there you are!" Kacie shouted as she charged over to us "I got you your drink came back and you were gone" she looked down at mine and Vic's hands "Aw, I'm so glad you made up. Although I don't forgive you Vic" she announced handing me my drink. I smiled at her and Vic let go of my hand pulling me into his side I smiled up at him as Jaime and Tony appeared next to us "Did you two see Mike on your travels?" Kacie asked us "Yeah he's in the bathroom" Vic replied. Kacie nodded and headed towards the toilet. "So, you two are friends again?" Jaime asked mainly looking at me. I nodded at him slowly

"Y-yes Jaime we are" he smiled at me, I could tell it was fake 

"Good, I'm happy for you" he turned on his heel and headed in the direction Kacie had disappeared in "What's Hime's problem?" Vic asked looking at Tony 

"I'm not sure, he's been acting odd all night" I took a sip of my drink before Mike appeared in the living room and started announcing something "Hey, so we all need to head outside for the fireworks" I smiled and we all followed Mike out of the French doors and onto the decking. 

The fireworks were looking really good so far and neither Mike or Tony had set themselves alight when lighting them, my phone vibrated in my pocket and I pulled it out seeing a text from Jaime

Jaime: Is that it then? You are just going to ignore what I said to you before I left the apartment and just get back with the guy you said you'd never forgive after he cheated on your for the third time with the same chick.

I turned around and looked at him, he was looking right at me. I quickly replied back 

Deven: Yes but Jaime, we aren't all quite so innocent are we? 

I slipped my phone back into my pocket and then continued to watch the fireworks. Vic tucked some of my hair behind my ear "I promise you that this year will be better than the last few years we've had ok?" he whispered before placing a kiss in my hair "I hope so Vic, I really do because this is your last chance" he tightened his grip around waist. 

That night getting into bed Vic noticed the necklace I was wearing "Oh this, it was just a silly gift from my Mum"

"Well it's pretty" I nodded "Here let me help?" he stated as I tried to get it off, he moved my hair out of the way and unclasped it placing it into my hand. I swallowed, the necklace was a really thoughtful gift and I loved it.
