Chapter 5

"Yuri! Why do you keep missing that Axel? You had it just a little while ago!" Viktor yells at me. I squeeze my eyes shut and sigh.

"I don't know what's up with me. I'm sorry. Let me retry it."

He shows me a worried look and I look away.

I don't want him to worry about me.

I begin to skate my routine again, trying to completely focus.

My body burns.

My waist. The place where he latched his arms around.

It burns.

Why won't it go away? Why won't it leave me alone? Why am I still thinking about it?

I jump into my Axel and bring my right foot down, getting ready to land it; when..

My foot twists all the way around and I fall, my head hitting the ice.

"Yuri!" I hear Viktor scream worriedly, running towards me. I try to sit up but feel a throbbing in the back of my head and everything becomes dizzy. I see white dots and my foot hurts. So damn bad.

I clutch onto my foot and tears begin to fill my eyes. Why? Why can't I just do something right?

Why can't I.. just be normal?

"Oh my God Yuri, what the hell happened?!" Viktor says, sliding down next to me. He puts his hand under my head and puts me on his lap.

My heart ignites.

My hands begin to tremble.

I push away from him and fall on my stomach. I grit my teeth from the pain in the back of my head and tears start to fall.

I'm already so sick of this.

Why me? Why is this happening? Why can't things just be natural between Viktor and I?

"Yuri-"

"I'm sorry," I say, wiping my eyes. I try to stop myself from crying and push myself up. I clench my hands together in fists from the pain. "I-I'll try again-"

"No, Yuri. We're done." He says. My eyes widen and I keep pushing myself up.

I can't let him down.

I won't.

"N-no, I can do it-"

"Stop it, Yuri, you're going to hurt yourself worse-"

I get up on my good foot but my bad one gives out from beneath me and I fall, Viktor catching me. I latch my eyes shut.

Don't touch me.

It has some sort of weird affect on me.

And I .. I don't like it.

I lean out of his touch and I see him flinch. A shocked expression crosses his face and I put my head in my hands.

I'm dizzy.

I feel like I'm going .. to..

I look up only for a moment to see Viktor show a shocked face.
