Chapter 34

Three and half weeks passed since that day after we.. did that. I was practicing constantly; it was days full of stress, sweat, and aching bones. But I was getting through it, because in just three days I'm competing in my first real competition since my failed attempt at the last Grand Prix Final I was a part of.

And I'm terrified.

I've been having just constant nightmares about what happened on that day. Sure, yes, I've had Viktor by my side to cuddle up next to every night, but the dreams just wouldn't stop coming.

Me and Viktor haven't had sex since the first time we did it, mainly because we need to practice every day and it could be a distraction as well as something that will cause my body to ache.

I've been craving him, but I've held back. I needed to do this, and I needed to do it right.

We were practicing Yuri on Ice a lot; since that was my main performance. We still occasionally ran through Eros, but not as much considering it was just my short program.

"Good job today." Viktor says, then walking over to where I stand at the lockers and hugging me from behind. "But we've gotta head out tomorrow to where the competition is being held. You think you're ready?"

I sigh. "I'm nervous. Like.. Extremely nervous."

He hugs me tighter, then kissing below my ear and signing in contentment when I blush and lean into the touch.

"You'll do great, my sunshine."

I blush. Why does he call me so many pet names?

"Why 'my sunshine'..?" I ask, my voice partially shaky.

"What do you mean?" He asks, resting his chin on my shoulder as his arms droop around my waist and connect in the front.

"I-I mean.. What makes you relate me to sunshine? O-or it could just be a random name, I guess. Sorry.. Ah, I'm over thinking this. Sorry. I guess I was just wondering.. Haha, sorry.." I say nervously, my face a bright red as I close my eyes in embarrassment.

"Yuri, if you say sorry one more time I will tickle you right here, right now." He laughs. I groan playfully but then open my eyes.

"S-sorry." I say. My eyes widen. "I-I mean, no! I'm not sorry! But I am, ah.. Sorry.."

Viktor starts laughing hysterically as my face becomes even hotter than before.

"D-don't laugh."

But after a while, I'm the one with tears in my eyes from laughter when he starts tickling me. I kneel down on the ground, my back rested against the lockers and tears in my eyes as he hovers over me, his fingers tickling me.

"V..Vik.. Vikt..!" I try to say, but the overwhelming feeling of it all takes over and I can't even speak.

He's just laughing.. This little-

"V-Viktor, I.." I gasp out. "I c-can't breathe-"

He stops when he sees I'm actually running short on breath. He continues to giggle lightly as I try to catch my breath.

"I nearly died, Viktor!" I say sarcastically.

"Oh, bull." He laughs. "You weren't gonna die from that."

Suddenly he puts both hands next to my head forcefully on the lockers behind me, trapping me into place as we both sit on the ground. He glances around, then smirking when he sees no one's around.

"I wouldn't let you die." He whispers, a smile across his lips as he leans forward, then planting his lips on mine. I close my eyes to embrace the moment when I feel his hand go up the back of my shirt.

"N-no, Viktor.. N-not here." I say as I pull away. He shows a pout but then immediately pulls it off with a playful expression and sighs over dramatically.

"Fine." He says, making the 'I' sound long. "But I will do this."

He replaces his lips on mine, then his smile seeping through the kiss as I rest my hand on his knee.

"You never answered my question," I say breathlessly through the kiss. I peck his lips quickly one more time before opening my eyes and staring at his dazzling blue ones. "Why do you call me your sunshine, that is if there is a specific reason?"

He backs up a little, then smiling softly at me as he sits down on the carpet.

"You wanna know? Because there is a reason." He says, raising an eyebrow. I nod my head, then smiling.

"Yeah."

"Okay, well.." He says, then sighing. "You kind of.. Resemble the sun to me."

I contort my face into confusion. "What do you mean?" I ask.

"Everything in my life was dark. Cold, with no reason to exist. Everything and everybody, including myself, just felt.. Meaningless." He says, smiling almost to himself. "And you.. You made me, and still make me the happiest I've ever been. You filled that gap, that darkness.. So to me, you resemble light. Which is a lot like the sun.. Because the sun is the Earth's light, just like how you're mine. So in simpler words, you're my sunshine."

I was speechless.

I almost wanted to cry.

Had I really done that much for him?

"W-wow.." I whisper, then bringing my hand up to his cheek as my eyes stay wide. "That's.. That's just.. Wow."

His face falls a little. "Is.. Is it dumb?"

"No!" I say, then bringing my other hand up to his other cheek. I bring my face slightly closer to his and rest my forehead on his own. "I.."

"I love it."

I feel his face heat up a little, then a smile overcoming it when he pulls me in for a short kiss.

He takes both of my hands, then clutching them in his own as he continues to kiss me and then bringing them up to rest over his heart. It's beating.. Furiously.

He pulls away, yet keeping his face very close to mine and his eyes closed as our foreheads stay rested on one another.

"I love you." He says, a small smile tugging at the corners of his glossy lips.

"Mm.. I love you too." I respond, then standing up. I grab his hand and help him up to then interlock my fingers with his as we walk out through the rink doors, the cold air hitting us.

It's only then that I realize my family will be home tonight. 

I don't know if I'm.. Disappointed or excited.
