I woke up the next morning with dried out eyes. I'm confused for a moment but then remember all the events from yesterday.
I lay there, staring up at my ceiling.
So, I'm in love, huh. That's a shocker.
I sigh and rest my hands on my chest, puffing my chest out a little. I can feel a knot start to form in my stomach but try my hardest to conceal it.
I climb out of bed and grab my phone, turning it on. But when I see the time I'm definitely not so calm anymore.
9:30 AM.
I was supposed to be at the rink two hours ago to practice.
My eyes widen and I fly out of bed, rushing over to my dresser to get dressed, grabbing my glasses and then running out of the room. I grab an energy bar out of the cabinet and rush for the front door.
"Yuri." I hear someone say behind me. My body tenses up at his voice and I close my eyes tightly.
"U-um, I'm very sorry I'm up late, I was just about to head out." I respond, turning around to look into Viktor's blue eyes. I see him standing around fifteen feet away from me. He has a slight smile on his face but I can see sadness in his eyes.
"It's okay. I let you sleep in late. I thought you should get a lot of rest before today's events. Yurio's already at the rink, though." He says. "We should probably head out as well."
I look down at my feet and let my eyes droop a little, an uncomfortable aura falling over us. "Y-yeah."
We both walk out the door and begin to walk down the street, the unsettling silence still haunting our every move. I bite my lip and hear him sigh.
"Feels nice out, doesn't it?"
I feel my heart flutter at the soft tone in his voice and I smile to myself.
I'm glad I fell in love with someone like him.
"Yeah." I respond. It falls silent again but this time it's not as uncomfortable.
"Yuri, are you ready for today?" He says. I glance back at him to see him with his hands rested in his pockets. I blush when he catches my gaze and look forward.
"I believe so." I say, exhaling deeply. "I'm just nervous, you know. I haven't performed since.." I trail off, biting my bottom lip. "..yeah."
"..Yeah." He says, mimicking me. I laugh a little and I can hear him let out a small breath as he smiles.
He walks up closer to me and I can feel my stomach starting to do flips. He stands right next to me now as we walk and I can't help but glance down at his open hand.
If only I could just grab it and not let go, not have to worry about our relationship falling apart or a heartbreaking rejection. I wish it was just that easy.
"Yuri, are you okay?" Viktor asks, his voice low. "You look kind of.. down."
I snap back into my senses and chuckle lightly, scratching the back of my neck. I can feel a blush falling over my face.
