So Christmas came around and to me it felt like a regular day. The first Christmas without my mom. Now any other Christmas before then I never got anything because myom of course thought I didn't deserve nothing. I kinda got used to it and didn't really care. But every year I have her something and ya know found it a different place.

Just being around alot of people on this holiday and actually getting something. I refused but they didn't take no for an answer. Lani did pull me away from everybody and asked me what was wrong and what not but I wasn't in the mood to talk.

Now its the day after and i just feel numb. Normally I wouldn't feel this way but I do. I went down stairs and grabbed a full bottle of Hennessy and went back to my room. I locked the door and just started rolling all the weed I had left. I know my liver is gonna be so fucked up when I get older but I don't care.

I grabbed my headphones and put them on full blast so I won't hear nobody. Smoking and drinking was the only thing I was doing, sitting here thinking of all the shit that's been said to before I moved here. All the looks my mom would give me but I always forgave her.

Desmond

I don't know what's up with Devin. I don't know what happened before she came here. She was fine all the way up until yesterday. I noticed she felt out of placed. Refused to accept the presents that was bought for her and everything.

"Go talk to her." Niya said

I walked up the steps and smelled weed. Which was quite normal for me to smell going towards her room. I knocked because that's what I normally do. I got no answer so I opened the door, but the door was locked.

"Aye girl open the door." I said.

I waited for a few minutes and still no reply. Right when I was about to just give Devin her space I heard glass break.

"Fuck." I started breaking down the door. Once it was opened there was a knocked out Devin laying in the bed. I went to check her pulse but that shit was slowing down.

"Niya get the car ready now!" I yelled picking up Devin.

"Why."

"Go now." She saw Devin in my arms and ran outside. Lani was just walking over the ran seeing Devin in my arms unconscious.

"Lock the house up and come to the hospital." I heard Niya say to Lani.

Man come on not my daughter I can't lose another family member like this. Speeding towards the hospital, nurses automatically saw her and took her.

2 hours later

"Family of Devin King." The doctor said

"Yes what's going on." Niya said

By this time everyone was here. Lani face red because she was crying like crazy.

"She's okay right now we had to pump her stomach before of all the alcohol in her system. Then also from the distinct smell weed also and I guess her pills but only two. You all can see her now but Desmond can I speak to you." The doctor said

"Yeah sure" everyone left to go see Devin while I'm talking to the doctor.

"When we flushed her system she said ' why care for my life when the woman who birthed me obvious doesn't care.' Do you know anything about that." She asked ,yes the doctor is a woman.

"Yeah. Her mom kicked her out because of her you know being gay and all. Devin was fine all the way up until yesterday." I said

"I advise you to have some family counseling with you her and the mother. it's clear to see something is bothering her deeply. Also remove anything in the house that she can harm herself with. There's also cut like scars on her upper thigh. When people come in like this we always check for self harm." She said

"Alright will do thanks." I walked towards her room. I didn't think she would do something like that.

They had to keep her over night because of safety reasons. I called Diana, Devin's mother to tell her what happened.

"Diana we need to talk. Devin's in the hospital." I told her

"Okay." Not even sounding sad.

"You don't sound surprised or at least upset why." I asked

"It's not my problem." Is she serious right now.

"But that's our child." I said

"No that's yours." She put more emphasis on yours.

"Diana you really can't be serious about this." I said.

"Maybe they can figure out why she is gay." I can't believe she is saying that.

"It's not a mental illness. Before America was so called founded. There's millions of painting by so called Christians who painted women on women, men on men and men on women. Don't be so fucking closed minded. Now I'm not here to discuss your dimwitted beliefs. Have you forgotten our other daughter is also gay." I said

"What do you want Desmond." She said.

"Why Devin so out if it on Christmas."

"Because she doesn't deserve nothing. Every year she gives me something but I don't want nothing from her. Oh and I'm spending back her present too." I couldn't say anything.

I couldn't believe her. I hung up the phone and just sat at home shocked. I sat there with tears in my eyes, that's why she refused everything. She believes she's nothing on that day......
