Learning to live: trying to be a girl

"That was Effie" Johanna said as I was tying my shoe laces.

"What's she demanding now?" I asked joking.

"Nothing she just said to tell you, she bumped into Cressida, an she said she would love to come to film your wedding" Johanna plumped herself on the couch.

"That's great" I laughed in shock. "I haven't seen or heard off Cressida since, well you know"

Johanna seemed to wince. "Yeh well at least we can all get on with life" she smiled.

"God I can't believe this really happening" I turned to Johanna.

"Yeah well you betta believe it it's hard work all this wedding shit" she laughed

Before I could reply the living room door opened, an a strained Annie walked in.

"Hey" she huffed putting the baby bag on the floor, Johanna offered to take Luca an Annie sat down looking exhausted.

"You alright?" I asked Annie

"Yeah, just been awake all night I think Luca is teething" she yawned. "I'm sorry kat but I don't want to ruin your day, Luca will just be crying an making a fuss when you're trying to pick a dress. I think it's best if I stay at home" she sighed.

"You will not Annie Odair!" Johanna protested. "Leave Luca with gale an peeta, they've had their fun"

"That's not fair on them though-"

"I don't give a shit, they have been out drinking all weekend they can watch him for a couple of hours, it won't kill them" Johanna stated.

"Fine" annie smiled sighing.

"Come on mockingjay out appointments at two" Johanna shouted up the stairs.

"I'm coming" I shouted back."How you feeling?" I asked peeta giving him two painkillers

"Surprisingly not too bad" he laughed.

"Good because you an gale are looking After Luca" I sat Luca on my side of the bed, his back propped up against pillows. "His bags downstairs, you know everything else" I smiled sarcastically. "See ya" I kissed Luca on the head then peeta.

As I was walking down the stairs I heard peeta say to Luca,

"So luc? What should we do first? Have a beer? Get arrested? It totally up to you"

Luca didn't get a reply just a few gurgled noises.

"Yeah milk sounds great to me too" he laughed.

It really did kill me. Knowing peeta would make the most amazing father, like that's what he was put on this earth to do an I don't even know if I can give him that.

"Katniss!" Johanna shouted, pulling me out of thought. "Come on".

Me Annie an Johanna made our way Into town enjoying the spring feel in the air.

"You've chose the right time of year to get married in 4 katniss, it's beautiful there in march" Annie told me.

I just smiled. "Spring has always been my favourite season, I think it feels right because peeta proposed in the spring" I shrugged.

"Oh yeah so romantic on your birthday" Johanna jokingly mocked.

"Exactly, may, when most of the flowers have bloomed" Annie laughed.

Johanna shook her head walking into the bridal shop.

The shop smelt of vanilla an Incense an white dresses hung in every inch of the shop.

"Woah" I whispered.

Johanna just laughed an shook her head an Annie's eyes lit up.

"Hello" a lean blonde woman in her late forties shouted in her Capitol accent.

"Hi it's Johanna we have an appointment for 2?" Johanna asked politely, Johanna being polite I know.

"Oh darling hello" the woman pulled her glasses down an rested them on her pointy nose. "Which one of you are the bride?" She asked

"Me" I straightened my back up.

"You?" She asked shocked.

"Yes" I said sternly.

"I know you from somewhere" she narrowed her eyebrows at me.

"Yeah she's the mockingjay" Johanna said unimpressed.

Her jaw dropped.

"Oh, oh my god, so katniss?" She said, I nodded at my name. "Katniss darling, who is the lucky man an when is the big day?" She asked excitedly.

"Well it's peeta, an Saturday" I answered.

"The star crossed lovers oh my god I can't not believe it" she sounded shell shocked.

I just tried to smile.

Johanna sat smugly on the couch amused by the show.

"Aralia, Aralia" the woman shouted to somebody in the back.

"Yes" she shouted back.

"Bring out the champagne" she said excitedly.

"Well katniss we have a lot of work to do" she said clapping her hands together. "My name is rainy, we will find you the most perfect dress" she smiled.

I knew instantly today was going to be a long day, I had no idea about fashion. I wasn't exactly one of them girls who loved all things girly, like Annie or daisy. Cinna used to deal with all my 'fashion needs' when something big was happening. And now I have no clue, I have no idea what the difference is between a strapless chiffon an a sleeveless lace gown. I was happy i had Annie an the wedding shop owner with me or I'd turn up in a bin bag, to be honest I wouldn't care either way.
