Learning to live: district 4

We'd been in district 4 since Wednesday gettin everything sorted well Johanna an Effie with Annie's help were string things ready. While me an delly did nothing, and I mean nothing, we went swimming in the hotel, watched movies an talked. Everybody else was arriving today, I couldn't wait to see peeta an I know Annie missed Luca like crazy. Johanna hadn't spoke to gale since Tuesday night, but peeta said he was still coming.

"Katniss, everybody's here" Effie beemed, I could see in her eyes she was excited to see haymitch.

"Go you don't have to wait for me!, I'm going to wait for delly to get out of the bathroom an tell her" I smiled at Effie, she didn't even object she rushed off so fast.

"Was that Effie?" Delly asked.

"Yeah everybody is here, do you know where Annie an Johanna are?"

"I think they went into town" delly said.

"Del?"

"Yeah?" She replied weary.

"Do you think, do you think my mother will turn up?" I asked pained.

"I hope she does, I really do" delly said hugging me. "Come on I don't know about you but I've missed everyone!" She pulled me out the room by my arm.

We made our way to the lobby where i guess everybody was checking in.

As soon as well stepped out the lift, I could see a muscular body with a curly blonde mop on their head, carrying a toddler with ripped muscles.

I smiled walking over to peeta.

"Hello stranger" I whispered from behind him.

He didn't even reply, just pulling me in passionately kissing me, one arm firmly round my face one holding on tight to Luca.

"I've missed you kat" peeta said now holding on To my waist.

"Ditto" I jokingly smiled.

"Katkat" Luca cutely said. Peeta an Luca were the only ones who called me kat, I hated it at first when peeta started it but its grew on me.

I looked around the lobby seeing how many people actually came, my eyes stopping on Melissa.

"She's actually stayed with this one then?" I asked joking.

"Yep" peeta laughed. "He seems like a nice guy too"

still no sign of Johanna or Annie.

"I'm going to check In" peeta said handing me Luca.

"I love you" he said kissing me on the head, then ruffling Luca's head.

"Love ya too" I smiled.

I looked through the crowd, everyone looking rather happy, gale looked tired but not angry anymore he stood talking to peeta at the check in desk.

Delly was all over thom like a rash. They were stood a few meters away from me, thom kissing delly an touching her stomach an delly clinging on to thom's neck like he would disappear any second.

I walked over to peeta at the front desk forgetting how much I missed his scent.

"Couldn't stay away could you?" He joked taking Luca off me.

"I know I just can't help myself" I smirked.

Johanna walked up to us hardly acknowledging gale getting a room key,

"Jo? Where's Annie?" I asked her.

"She er, she went to finnick's grave she said to tell peeta she's sorry an will get Luca as soon as she's back" Johanna said.

We all fell silent thinking of the state Annie would be in right now.

"I think I'm going to go up" she smiled softly at us all, including gale.

"Yeah I'm going up to, Luca looks tired" peeta said.

"I'll come with you" I grabbed peeta's hand not wanted to let go.

We all silently stood in the elevator, Luca the only one making noise, all 4 of us were on the 65th floor so gale an peeta carried all the bags.

"this is us" I said smiling at peeta.

"Okay then, see you both tonight" peeta said man hugging gale an kissing Johanna on the cheek.

I placed Luca in the travel cot with a few of his toys.

"How's gale?" I asked peeta.

"Not too good" peeta sadly said.

"I don't know-" the noise from next door cut me off.

"stop trying to save me gale!" Johanna shouted.

When they say adjoining rooms they mean it, it sounded like they were in the room.

"I'm not trying to save you" gale shouted back "that's not how it works you can't save people just love them, an I love you Johanna I really do" he said the last part more softer.

peeta looked at me sadly, obviously also hearing was going on.

"then stop trying to fix me you know I hate what I'm doing to you, you even told me I'm the reason you drink.an im fuck up okay I fucked up, I'm sorry"

Peeta looked at my wide eyed an I could feel my jaw drop I couldn't believe gale would say something so horrible to Johanna.

"No, no don't Johanna don't you didn't make me drink I was drunk an lost it were okay, you're okay" gale pleaded.

"no I'm not I might never be okay, I'm a disappointment to everybody, I'm really not a nice person"

I just wanted to grab Johanna an tell her how much she actually did mean to all of us.

"Johanna, I love you don't even say that I still remember the way you looked at me when we first met" he cleared his throat. "You still look at me like that"

An then it went silent. The silence actually felt deafening.
