-Niall
Having a week to just have some time to our self, in a beach house seems like it would be a good mini vacation, but it’s not. All the lads want to go out and do something but most of the time we get nervous to do so since every time we do, we basically get mobbed.
I honestly, don’t mind seeing fans but being claustrophobic and having that many people around me is a nuisance. Don’t get me wrong, our fans mean the world to us but I just want to have some free time to myself when I out alone or with family and friends.
“Nialler, wanna head down to the beach?” I looked up to meet the eyes of Louis. I sent him a smile.
“Yeah, I just need to get my trunks on and then we can go?” He nodded his head. I made my way upstairs and changed into a pair of black trunks and a tank before walking back down stairs barefoot.
“Are we going?” I asked, seeing Louis and Liam standing by the door.
“Niall, you might want to put some shoes on that sand gets hot and your burn the bottom of your feet if not.” Liam scolded me when he saw me shoeless. Mumbling about him being right, I slipped on a pair of water shoes by the door before looking to see if that was better.
I guess it was since Louis opened the sliding glass door and we were heading out. We followed the sand pathway until we were faced with the sand and water, but that’s not what caught our attention. A group of people were huddled in a circle.
From where we were standing the only thing we saw was the circle of people and then movement at their feet.
“What’s going on?” Louis asked quietly. He made a few steps forward, trying to find out. The crowds of people were whispering as another voice was panicking.
“Did anyone call an ambulance?” For a spilt second my mind blanked as I tried to figure out why that voice sounded familiar. I searched my brain but just couldn’t pin point the voice. Someone in the group said a quick yes.
Out of the corner of my eye I noticed Louis tense up before he ran into the crowd of people making a gap in one side. My eyes widened as I saw who was lying on the ground.
“Natalie!” It was mine and Liam’s turn to run for her. I feel to my knees beside her.
“What happened?” I heard Liam ask the girl beside us.
“We were out in the water, I was teaching her how to swim and surf at the same time. I don’t think she noticed how far out she actually was until I heard her start yelling for me but when I turned around, I saw a wave coming up behind her. Before I could even blink it washed over her dragging her under. She came back up a few seconds later but another wave hit her.”
I was only partially listening to what she was telling me. I was trying to watch as Louis started doing CPR on her. About a minute after Louis started doing chest compressions a burst of water came out of Natalie mouth along with a round of coughs.
I felt relief wash over me as I saw her eyes open.
When she tried sitting up Louis gently pushed her back down.
“Lie back down.”
I watched as she shut her eyes and relaxed back onto the sand. Liam was behind me telling people to back up. Some listened and went back to what they were doing but others stayed and watched.
A few minutes later an ambulance had arrived. Two paramedics came by and helped Natalie up and onto a gurney while another one was asking Delilah a few questions. As Louis and Liam stayed with her I walked over to the ambulance where Natalie was with the other paramedics.
They were saying a lot of medical stuff that I really didn’t understand, to each other whenever I came and stood beside the gurney. Natalie was lying down and breathing slowly, taking in the oxygen provided by the mask on her face, her eyes open wide. I gently stroked her head, trying to get her to calm down.
She sent a small smile my way but it looked forced, to me at least. I would ask her how she was feeling but the mask prevented me from doing so, instead I turned to one of the paramedics and asked her if she was okay.
“She’ll be okay. She most likely won’t be able to talk much or move around. I wouldn’t make her do a lot of stressful stuff anytime soon.” I nodded my head as the woman gave me more instructions on Natalie’s care. For the most part she’d be fine but this would definitely be hard on her.
When the paramedics released her Liam and Louis, along with Delilah came over to where I stood with Natalie. I had my arm around her shoulder supporting her and making sure that she was okay standing.
“You okay Nat?” Louis asked his voice full of concern.
She nodded her head softly. I don’t think she really wanted to be standing outside after what she just went through so I came up with something.
“Delilah?” I asked the girl standing in the middle of Liam and Louis. Her gaze moved from looking at Natalie intently to focusing on my eyes.
“Yes Niall?”
“Do you want to come over tonight? Have dinner and chat?” I asked.
She looked like she was debating whether or not it was a good idea.
“Please, we can do all sorts of things!” Louis pleaded with her. As I stared at her I saw something flicker over her eyes. It was as if she had already made up her mind but was just waiting for that extra push to further confirm it.
“Sure, why the hell not?”
