Beach Date

Liam and I stood by the beach, putting things in place before Delilah showed up with Natalie. The sun was a little low in the sky but it was just about to set.

 I had to admit the place looked nice, there was a blanket placed on the sand, farther away from the others on the beach, and a basket sitting on it. Liam insisted that there be food there since it was a picnic; even though I told him we wouldn’t need it.

I hadn’t really planned on this being the way I would spend this night but I definitely don’t want to back to back out now. I had to do this; I had to tell Natalie exactly how I feel.

“Okay mate, everything’s ready, I’m going to head out now.” Liam said, fixing his shirt. I nodded my head, looking around. Everything was in place and I guess I really didn’t need his assistance anymore.

“Okay. Thanks for helping me with this.” He smiled at me; nodding his head.

“Anytime, I wish you the best of luck.”

I gave him a smile, thinking about how this night could end.  He took off towards his car.

It wasn’t until earlier when I told everyone about my feelings for Natalie. I know most people would find it weird, since we are two very different people but sometimes, as they say, opposites attract.

After Liam left I sat down on the blanket and waited for Delilah to text me.  When she did, I smiled, my excitement went higher. It’s now or never. I stood up and looked out to the place I parked my car, seeing another car pull up beside it.

Both doors opened and out came Natalie and Delilah. I smiled as I saw Natalie looking like her beautiful self.  As they got closer I noticed that Nat had her head towards the ground and her face was pink from blushing. I smiled at her, knowing she was absolutely perfect to me.

When she came closer I looked at Delilah.  She had a smile on her face, already knowing what was going to happen tonight.

“Hey you two.” I smiled at them. Delilah smirked and gave me a slight wave.

“Hey Niall.”

“Hey Ni.” Natalie said shyly as she raised her head. I smiled at her, thinking of how awkwardly perfect this moment is.

“I was just supposed to bring you here, so I’m going to be leaving now!” Natalie turned to her, mouth wide and eyes wide. I could have laughed for a while at that face.  She definitely didn’t know that this was planned, or what it was about.

“What’s going on?” She turned to me to look for an answer. I grinned but didn’t answer her, just waved bye to Delilah. Natalie watched her walk back to her car, getting in and driving away before she turned back to me.

“Seriously what’s going on?” She looked so nervous and I honestly felt a little nervous. I didn’t really know why either. I mean it was just us two; we’ve hung out along together before.

“Follow me love.”  I reached out and grabbed her hand. A smile appeared on my face as she walked with me.

Niall led me to a blanket lying on the beach with a basket laying on it. I raised an eyebrow at it, wondering what he was doing.  This all was a bit fishy, if I was being honest.  This boy had something up his sleeves and I was definitely going to find out.

We sat down on the blanket, a silence filling the air around us.

“Why are we here?” I asked, having enough of the silence and wanting to know the reason I was here alone with Niall.

Niall’s face filled with nerves as he bit his bottom lip. He reached out for my hand, grasping it in his own.

“Natalie, I have to tell you something.” I watched as he took a deep breath and calmed himself as it looked like the nerves were about to get the best of him. This made me grow nervous, what in the heck did he have to tell me, that made him shy.

“I like you, a lot, and I really couldn’t stand to watch you be my best friend when I knew I had feelings for you.”

Okay so I wasn’t expecting him to say that, actually I figured he was going to say something like they were heading back home and I would be going back to that house my brother and ‘parents’ live at.

“You like me?” I asked astonished that he would; somehow I didn’t want to believe.  He rubbed my hand with his thumb.

“I do; a lot.” He told me, I turned my head down to my lap’ my eyes wondering it as I thought.

For some reason, I just couldn’t believe it. Why would he like someone like me? It wasn’t possible. I’m a bigger girl and he’s famous.  We don’t mix; we’re two totally different people.

Niall lifted up my head, making me look at him. Once our eyes meet it was like time stopped. He moved his gaze down to my lips and then back before his hands covered my cheeks. Very slowly he leaned in and placed his lips on mine.

My eyes fluttered closed, his lips felt like they belonged on mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me.

He pulled away making my eyes open.

“Does that show you how much I like you?” He asked slowly, his eyes searching mine.  I nodded my head, still in a daze from his kiss.  

I didn’t know why but I leaned forward and hugged Niall. He was being extremely sweet and just the fact that he likes me makes me want to hug him longer.

He hugged back, placing his face in the crook of my neck. We stayed like that for some time. It didn’t feel awkward at all; in fact it felt like it was natural. We didn’t care about the fact that people could have been watching us or if we looked weird.

“Natalie?” He asked, his breath fanning over my neck making a cold chill go down my spine.

“Hmm?” I hummed.

“This Sunday we have to perform at the Teen Choice Awards and I was wondering if you would come along as my date?”

I pulled back really quickly. Did he really just ask me that?

“I mean, it’s okay if you don’t want to. I just really wanted you to be there with me.” He rushed out. I smiled slightly at his nervousness.

“I’d love too.”
