The first stop we made was in Kentucky, where we are now, the boys show is tonight and as of now I’m just hanging out on the bus by myself. The boys had rehearsals today and I didn’t want to be a bother or anything like that so I volunteered to just stay here. I don’t think the boys wanted me to be alone.
Although I know I’m not going to be alone for long. The boy’s hair stylist, Lou, was coming to my rescue after she got all her stuff ready for tonight. She said something about wanting to go shopping in town so actually right now I should be getting ready.
I went back into the back room and threw on a pair of blue jean skinny jeans and a tank top. I didn’t even look at the shirt that I grabbed I just put it on and then grabbed my converse out from under the bed; where I stuffed them after taking them off.
I heard a knock on the door in the living area of the bus which made me hurry up. I slipped them on and almost fell over as I tried to run to the door, successfully getting it open. Lou stood behind the door with her daughter Lux on her hip, a huge diaper bag on one shoulder, and her purse hanging of the her elbow.
“Do you need some help?” I asked softly. Not because Lux was sleeping or anything but because when I meet someone for the first time I am always shy. Lou shook her head before asking me if I was ready to go. I gave her a straight nod before walking out the bus door, off to the side I noticed a little stroller that she was going to push. She sat Lux down in it and adjusted the straps before moving towards me.
I am not really familiar with anything at the moment so I am just going to walk behind Lou and pray to god she knows her way around Kentucky.
“So which store do you want to go into first?” She asked, I shrugged my shoulders and pointed at a random store. She gave me a smile.
"No need to be shy babe.” I had a little hint of blush rise to my cheeks. I merely nodded my head, not really sure what to say back. We walked into the store and I saw a ton of clothes that were pretty, some not my style and others I wouldn’t dream of owning.
“Go look around if you find something you like then we’ll buy it.”
“Okay?” It came out more like a question then a statement. I didn’t know where to even start with this place. I decided to start with jeans seeming as I like them better than shorts.
My eyes scanned each item before I sighed and moved onto the next pair. It’s not that they weren’t cute because some of them were but all of them weren’t in my size. I have always hated walking into a store filled with clothes and want to find me something that would be cute but then I would find that nothing would fit so I always leave feeling disappointed and disgusted in myself.
I turned away from the jeans and went looking for Lou. I found her looking through some shoes, now I can actually like it here. I’m not all tomboy I do like my girly shoes.
I picked up a pair of wedges that I adored. Lou turned to me, after she noticed I was beside her, and gave me a smile.
“I was going to find some shoes for you but I didn’t know what size you were.” I hesitated for a second.
“I can wear a nine to ten; it just depends on how it’s made.” She nodded her head then turned to go through the show laid out in front of her. I held onto the white wedges and waited for her, she grabbed three different heeled shoes and then moved down to a pair of TOMS.
“Okay, so we have these how about we go look at the shirts?” I nodded my head. She placed all four shoes into a buggy she had and I followed her actions and placed the wedges and a pair of thong sandals, I thought were cute, in too.
I looked through some shirts and actually found some that were cute and they would fit too. That made me smile, I actually didn’t think that there would be much clothes that actually fit me. I sat all three in the buggy and looked up to see Lou looking through some dresses. I froze instantly; me and dresses don’t mix. None of them actually fit me right and they made me feel like I have nothing on.
“Uh Lou, I’m not really a dress person.” I said as I got closer towards her. The smile that she had on her face fell, she looked torn. I felt really bad since she was so excited to be searching for me some dresses but I honestly doubt I’d ever wear them if she bought them.
“Fine we can get dresses.” I muttered as my face turned towards the ground, I thought about this for a moment.
“Hey Lou, when would I ever wear a dress?” I asked as the question popped into my head. My eyes found hers and I could tell she didn’t really want to answer.
“Uh, you never know, maybe the boys will have a dinner they are going to or an event. It’s always better to be prepared Nat.” Okay I could totally tell she just came up with that answer at the spur of the moment. I let it be, though, if she wants me to get a dress then so be it but I highly doubt I’d even think about wearing it; ever.
