We just stared at each other, neither of us moving. I could almost see his eyes roaming my face searching for answers to the questions going on through his mind. His eyes flickered towards something behind me; Harry. Truthfully I forgot there were other people in the room until his piercing blue eyes left my gaze.
“You two okay?” Harry asked. I lowered my gaze back to my hands and slightly nodded my head. The room got creepily quiet as I waited for the doctor to come in and tell me when I can leave. No one said a word but I could tell the two boys were talking with their eyes. I’m not stupid I know when people do that, believe me they do it all the time once I walk into a room. Sometimes the bullies would make the comments loud enough for me to hear. Most of the time I could ignore the obvious ones but the ones about my weight are the ones that will stay with me forever.
Fat would always be the one that pushed me past the writing. I hated that word, people don’t think that once you call a girl fat they’ll spend everything they have in them to make them smaller. I’ve tried it but I couldn’t do it. I’ve always wanted to be this small girl because then maybe someone will love me. Right now I feel ugly with myself that people would just be disgusted if they would ever think of loving me. No one wants a fat girl to love. Who would though?
“Natalie?” My brother’s voice sounded through the door. I looked up and smiled lightly as he came into the room. Is gaze roamed around the room, taking in the five boys sitting with me; wondering why they were here, to be honest so was I.
“Um can I talk to my sister alone for a moment?” He asked. It was then that I noticed Liam, Louis, and Zayn were awake. They all nodded their heads and walked out into the hallway. Niall’s gaze lasted longer than anyone else’s. Jake shut the door and sat in the seat Harry was in. His first question didn’t really shock me.
“Did you try and commit suicide?” His voice bleak and emotionless, I quickly answered with a no and watched his face instantly change. He grabbed my hand and gave it a light squeeze. I wish my parents were like Jake, caring and there for me.
“So how come you are in here?” He asked slightly lower than a normal voice. I switched glances with him and the door, where Niall was just on the outside of.
“I was sitting on the ledge of the bridge talking to Niall and when he stood up he grab-.” I stopped horrified. I can’t explain this to Jake he thought I quit. Of course he noticed what I was saying and flickered glances between my eyes and my covered arm. In one swift motion he turned my arm over and exposed them.
The new cuts and the old ones, there were defiantly more than the last time he saw them and asked me to stop.
