I was provided with a scabbard for my sword. Ms.Pillar says it should mask the swords appearance to look like a teddy bear. "A teddy bear? Why not something else like a dragon?" I asked. "No" Ms.Pillar said "it's supposed to resemble something a human your age would carry around". "My age?  Im 18 and what do you mean human aren't you human to" I nagged. Ms.Pillar smiled "yes, but can you please get the heck out of here" she joked. A little while after they gave me some new clothes and sent me and Derek through a...... Portal, into my room.

Everything was still the same except for the fact it was night time now. After the portal closed Derek made his way to my window and opened it. "Go to bed kid I'll be watching from afar to make sure nothing happens to you" he said. He then leaped out of the window further then humanly possible into a tree. I shut the window and put the sword onto the computer desk in my room and hopped into bed. Knock knock knock knock I heard as Mom knocked on my bedroom door. "Toby wake up it's time for school" she said through the door.

I slowly sat up as I heard the birds chirping outside. "Coming Mom!" I yelled back. I got up to my feet and made my way into my bathroom. Took a shower brushed my teeth and got clothed. I lifted my bookbag and as I made my way out I seen the sword in the exact place where I left it. Should I leave it here? Ehhh maybe not. I opened my bag and placed the sword into it. It wouldn't fit all the way so it's handle stuck out. Hmm didn't look like a teddy bear to me.

Maybe Ms.Pillar was bluffing, I put the bag on my back and made my way to the kitchen. Mom and Dad were already there eating pancakes with sausages. I sat at an empty seat at the table. "Gosh son sorry we couldn't say goodnight last night, for some reason me and your Dad slept heavily" Mom said. I just shrugged, I was still pretty angry about what Cindy had said. My Mom sensed my discomfort "everything okay?" she asked. I sighed and smiled at her "yeah Mom Im great" I lied. Dad looked up at me.

"Have you been exercising?" he asked. I looked down at my arms to see thick muscles, unlike my usual frail ones. "Um yeah Dad I have been" I lied again. Mom smiled awkwardly at my bag. "I like your teddy bear" she said. "Oh you see it?" I asked in wonder. "Of course its head is poking out" Dad said. "Oh um yeah thanks Mom" I said giving a fake smile. After an awkward breakfast I walked out of the house and made my way to the school. As I walked along the side walk I heard Dereks voice.

"Hey wait up" I turned to see Derek rushing towards me. "Hey what's up" I said as he caught up with me. "I wanna walk you to school" he said. I shrugged "okay come on". We made our way towards the school. "So I hope there's no hard feelings about me kidnapping you" he said. "Naw man we're cool" I said. "Oh okay good, so how does an average school work?" he asked. I looked at him in surprise "you don't know?" I asked. "No I was born into the Ministry, my dad is a solider so he made me his pupil making me the youngest to be in the ministry" he exclaimed.

"How old are you?" I asked "I'm 17". Wow, to be honest that wasn't surprising. "You don't have to worry about school since you're not a student" I told him. "Uh hate to break it to you but I am" he then took out a student ID. "I examined to see Dereks face and my schools name. "How?" I asked, the ministry of magic can hook me up, so I can watch you closer" he answered. I laughed "wow the ministry can do pretty much what they want huh?" I joked.

Derek laughed "yup guess so" he said. "Well if you're going to school with me just stay close and you'll be fine okay" I said. Derek smiled "thanks but just in case things get hairy I've got these" he said referring to his two guns. "Um you can't bring those on school grounds" I said. "Oh I know, that's why I have them disguised as belt designs". "Really, can you change my sword into like a parrot or something?" I asked. "Sorry no Im not that skilled in magic yet" he told me.

I sighed "so how does magic work anyways?" I asked. "Well" Derek started "once a person unlocks their inner magic they have a certain limit of use called mana" "oh you mean like a certain supply of energy?" I asked. "Yeah, everyone starts off with a little bit so you would have to practice in order to build more mana, but if you were to run out of mana you'd have to rest in order to recharge". "Oh so I have a little mana?" I asked. "No, you're a guardian so you have unlimited mana" he told me. "Cool, what else can guardians do" I asked.

"Well for one they can learn any spell they want, teleport, have immense strength and endurance, fly, phase through things ect". "Wow" I muttered "yeah, it's to bad our last one had to blow up in order to save the balancer" Derek looked at me with a sadden face "Sarah was a close friend of mines, she was a good person and everyone loved her" he said. "Im sorry for your loss" I told him sincerely. "It's okay but promise me you'll always make the right choices" he said. I smiled and nodded my head. "Im the Guardian, of course I'll make the right choices" Derek smiled and reached his fist out "friends?" he asked,I bumped his fist with mines "friends".
