Did The Plan Work?

I yank open the front door and accidentally slam it behind me as I run out. I had told mom this morning that I would be leaving. All she said was to be back by dinner time. Now that I think about it, I never told her where I was going. She probably thinks I'm going to Kade and Kat's house.

Oh well. I don't have the mind space to think about that right now. As I near Timothy's house I slow down to a walk to catch my breath. And also because a small part of me is frightened. What if it all went wrong? What if Timothy and I can never be together? What if Monica holds up to her threats?

I pause on the edge of his driveway thinking on such things. After a few moments I shake my head, determined to not dwell on those thoughts, and continue walking.

I make it halfway up the driveway when I hear a door open and shut loudly. I look up to see Timothy running towards me. He only has to take a few strides to reach me because of his long legs.

"How did-"
I start to say but I'm cut off by him picking me up in a hug and spinning me around laughing. I can feel the butterflies in my stomach just from his touch. I soon join in the laughter after the initial shock.

He finally sets me down and looks into my eyes. There go those butterflies again.

"I take that as your way of saying that all went well?"
I say still smiling.

He nods vigorously and puts his hand on my cheek.
"Yep."
He seems to be at loss for words because from then on he doesn't speak, only gazed into my eyes.
Soon I can't take it any longer, so I bring my lips to his.

He must have not expected that because he stumbles backwards and trips bringing me down with him into the grass. We never part from each other until we had to break for air, and also because we started laughing, which seems to be all we ever do.

After containing ourselves we stay laying down on our sides, staring at each other.

"You know what?"
Timothy breaks the silence.
"What?"
I ask.

"I'm a single man now. And you know what else?"
He says with a smile forming on his face.

My smile dims slightly. I thought we were supposed to be together. Did he have second thoughts? Why would he be thinking about being single?
"What?"

"I don't like it. Because, you know, I never officially asked you to be my girlfriend."
He says with a slight shake of his head.

I let out a breath of relief and let a smile take place on my face once more. I have got to stop being so paranoid and always assuming the worst.
"Well what would you like to do about it then?"

He sits up and pulls me up with him. He then shifts his position to where we are facing each other and takes my hands in his. I can feel a blush coming on.

"Ellie Marie Grey. Would do me the wonderful honor of becoming my girlfriend?"
He says in the most adorable and cheesiest way.

"I do believe it will be me that will have the honor."
I say.

"Well then, if that is a yes?"

I nod my head in approval.

"Then we may share the honor with each other."
He says as he stands up. He offers his hands to me and pulls me up after I accept them. He kisses me on the cheek and then starts walking towards the house while holding my hand.
