Chapter 57

We get into the lobby before Jacob breaks down crying. I pulled him into a hug letting him cry it out
"Why do they need to do this to me?" He said in between sobs
"Because they find this as their need for power and control over you when they lost the years you were addicted." JJ said joining into our hug
"Dont profile me." He said trying not to laugh
"It comes with the territory." JJ said smiling
Dylan looked at his phone and told us he would be right back.
"I wonder what that was about?" David said wiping tears from his eyes
"I need to get Jacob back to the station. You can follow us there." JJ said looking up from her phone
"We will meet you there when Dylan comes back." David said giving Jacob a hug
They left as we waited for Dylan. Dylan came back into the lobby with his parents and Preston behind him.
"Dont start anything." David said as a warning
"They wont. I made sure of it. " Dylan said looking at them
"I need to tell you something." Preston said crossing his arms
"Go on. Im listening." David said standing up taller
"I wanna drop the charges against Jacob." He said in a way I couldnt believe
"Now you do. You have already made our lives hell and after all this you put us through now you want to drop the charges." I said getting angry
"Britt." Dylan said trying to calm me down
"No, Dylan. They dont get to do this. They disowned their own son. They call me all these names that Im not. His own brother was pressing charges against him because he was defending me. They cant keep pushing and pulling at our lives like this. They wanted me to get an abortion. They treat our lives as a game that they can control. Im not letting that happen anymore. Once Jacob is released we are going to have a long conversation about having a restraining order placed on you two." I said running out of breath looking at Debra and Mike
"Britt lets go. You said your peace. Lets go get Jacob." David said putting his arm around my shoulder as we walked out to the car before I started to cry.

JJs POV
I get back into the car with Jacob sitting next to me.
"So, how did it go?" I asked trying to break the silence
"We ummm made out with a lot of money. More than I expected." He said fidgeting with his hands
I started to profile him. Knowing how bad this would be when he realized I was
"You want diluadid dont you?" I asked trying not to make him more upset
"I do. I feel the urge to hit up and just take away the pain that I have been caused the last couple of days." He said looking at me
I kept my eyes on the road and reached one hand over to hold his
"Thats not going to happen." I said making him feel loved
"I know but I just want to relapse." He said wiping a tear away
I pulled the car over into a parking garage to talk to him
"Jacob. You are the strongest twenty two year old I know and have come to love. You are the husband to my daughter who gave me the blessing to get to know her better. You helped me reconnect with her. You are stronger than the drug. If I need to pay for you and handcuff you myself to take you to a center to help you not relapse I will. You are like another one of my kids." I said starting to tear up
"I dont want to fail you, Will, the boys, my child, but most importantly Britt." He said crying
"You wont. How about this when we get home from this mess ,whenever that will be, you will sit down with Reid." I said bringing up Reid knowing his past with the same drug
"Why Reid?" He asked
"He was addicted to diluadid as well." I said wiping a tear from his face.
"You mean everything you said?" He asked as if I lied about everything
"Jacob, you are part of my family now. And family always comes first. I love you as if you are one of my own and its hard for other people to let their daughter marry someone but Im happy she married you." I said pulling him into a hug
"Thank you." He whispered in my ear
"Now lets get some real food before I take you back to the station." I said smiling a wiping away my tears.
