JJs POV
We get home two days later thanks to Britts insight from the first night. I was walking in to the house and smelt Wills famous cajun chicken and smiled.
"Hey." He said seeing me walk into the kitchen
"Mommy!" Both boys yelled running over to me and almost tackling me with hugs
We sat down and ate dinner as the boys blabbed on about the three days I was gone.
After dinner I helped Henry with homework.
"Mommy?" He asked me
"Yeah, bud." I said looking into his eyes that reminded me of Will
"When Raelynn gets older do I have to protect her?" He asked sounding concerned
"I mean you can if you wanted to." I said not really understanding his question
"Well daddy protects you, Jacob protects B, I want to protect someone and be a man." He said sounding a little upset
"I think you are still a little to young to want to protect anyone." I said smiling
"So, I have to be married?" He asked with his eyes getting huge
"No, not really. We all protect each other because we are family. Thats what a family does." I said trying to get him to understand
"So, I dont have to get married to protect anyone?" He asked
"No." I said laughing
"Good cause I am not ready for that type of commitment." He said making me laugh. I kissed him on the forehead happy because he was still my little boy
"I want to be a detective like daddy and protect more than just family." He said going back to his math. It didnt take me by surprise that he wanted to, he has only grown up in a law enforcement family its in his genes.
"I love you buddy." I said smiling knowing he had a big heart.
The weekend passed by fast and I was walking back into the office with a coffee for Britt and I.
I sat it on her desk seeing she was talking to a man I have never seen before. When she saw me she walked over to me with him next to her.
"Agent Jareau. I have some paperwork for you to sign." He said as we shook hands
"And you are?" I asked taking the paper work.
"Oh Agent Murphy." He said smiling
"I went to Georgetown and we were in the same training group." Britt said signing under my name
"Well thats cool." I said smiling having an off feeling about him
The day seemed to just drag on and on with all this paper work we were having to do. Britt was in class and wasnt able to entertain me like usual. I walked into Garcias office to see if she wanted to get lunch with me. She said yes but before we left I had her run a background check on the guy Britt mentioned as his first name being Steve.
"He looks like an all American boy Jayge. Nothing off about him for our records." She said as we looked it over.
"There is just something off about him I know it." I said still trusting my gut
"Run Tyler Murphy." I said hoping they both wouldnt be connected
"Tyler Murphy as in Britts biological father?" She asked before typing in his name
"Oh no. This isnt good." She said as his information came up
"What isnt?" I said leaning in
"That son of a bitch." I said storming out of her office and into Cruz's
"Hes free!" I yelled interrupting the meeting between Cruz and Hotch
"Whos free?" Cruz asked
"Britts father. Tyler is free from prison." I said trying to hold my emotions down
"Call in the team. Leave Britt out of this case as much as possible." Hotch said standing up as we made our way into the conference room
"Britt is to not know about any of this. Clear?" Hotch said as everyone nodded in agreement
"Tyler Murphy has been set free because of over crowding in the prison." Garcia said as his information came up on the screen
"I swear if I..." Morgan started to say but Hotch cut him off
"The only priority is making sure Britt, JJ and the families are safe. I have protective detail on all of them as we speak." He said putting my worries a little at ease
"Hey." Britt said walking into the room as Garcia made the screen black before she noticed
"New case?" She asked sitting down next to me
"No. Just reviewing some old stuff." I said making the lie up
"Can I look it over?" She asked reaching for my file
"No." I said stopping her hand.
"You are not needed for this case Britt." Hotch said smiling
"Oh alright than. Im just going to go back down and study. I have a test on Wednesday." She said smiling and leaving
"We cant keep this from her for too long." Reid said
"I know but long enough so we know where Tyler is." Hotch said before dismissing us
"Hey, dinner tonight?" I asked Britt
"Uh sure. Depends on what Jacob has plans for." She said not looking up from her notes
"Alright well its four thirty and Hotch dismissed us Im going to go home. Love you." I said as I heard her mumble back love you too.
I drove home thinking about today and that I needed to make sure she was safe. I pulled into the garage and noticed the agent sitting out front and sighed in relief
I walked in and saw Will not looking happy
"Why do we have an agent sitting out front?" He asked
"Because I put them there." I said not yet ready to say the reason why
"Jennifer." He said wanting answers
"Tyler Murphy is free." I said before breaking down and crying.
Well I guess this is an exciting twist to end the story with. One more chapter left to go. 😊
