Time Changes Everything

Chapter 86

"So, are you excited?" He asked with a famous smile I heard about
"Ya, I am. A little nervous." I slightly laughed
"Dont be. You wont be on the field at first. You are pregnant and you wont start until you are ready after you give birth. That can be any where between a month to a year. This is your internship, you earned it." He said reassuring my nerves
"I didnt think I did a lot to earn it though." I said doubting my ability to work here
"Oh, you did trust me. The paper work you turned in was professional and at a higher standard than many of your peers. You have over a 4.0 GPA and showed incredible skill   around the many mock cases we sent your group on. Cruz was just in my office as we reviewed your application one last time before I was going to call you for an immediate meeting." He said taking a pause
"Cruz told me he has only seen paper work done like this before and continually only sees it from that person." He said as I looked at him waiting to know who
"Your mom. Cruz actually thought it was your mom was playing a joke in us but he looked deeper and never knew about you." He said smiling
"Thank you sir. So what do I need to fill out." I asked just wanting to get to the point
"Let me get JJ." He said before getting up and calling her in from the bullpen
She came in and closed the door behind her
"Whats up Hotch?" She asked slightly annoyed she couldn't stay the whole time
"Well you know Brittney is going to be our intern when she is ready after having her baby." He said as she nodded that she knew that
"Cruz was very impressed and even more impressed with her papers and work in the  mock field. We talked about it and she will be under close monitoring for the first year and a half of her internship. During which she will be taking profiling classes. If she does well and passes, which we have no doubt about. Brittney will be asked to apply for a special agent position. From there she will work in the BAU full time as a profiler after she passes everything needed." He said starting to smile towards the end
"No." JJ said bitterly
"JJ this is her choice. If Cruz had his way she would testing right now to be an agent." Hotch said changing his tone
"Shes my daughter and I say no. I dont want her this young in the field." She said raising her voice
"Go talk to Cruz than. For all I know Im offering Brittney a job." He said looking at me
"Cruz is going to get more than a piece of my mind maybe a foot up his ass too." She said full of anger as she slammed Hotchs door and made her way out of the BAU to go to Cruzs office
"So, what do you say?" He asked me to change the mood
"Im going to take the job. Thank you for this opportunity. I wont let you down." I said shaking his hand
"You wont. I know you wont. Lets go show you your desk." He smiled as we walked out of his office and down the stairs

JJS POV

"We need to talk." I said walking into Cruzs office with out knocking
"Jennifer." He smiled knowing what this is about
"Shes in her twenties." I yelled crossing my arms
"But shes amazing. Read her paper work and watch her in the mock field." He said trying to put her folder in my hand
"I dont want to know." I said through my teeth
"I dont care." He said turning the computer around with her leading the team in the scenario.
She took down the first guy with out firing a shot. She continued the sweep taking down two more guys and saved one of the members life because he failed to open a closet door. What I watched took me back to my training. And I stood there with my mouth slightly open having a tear escape.
"Jennifer, you need to let her do this. She good at it." Cruz said standing up
"I cant protect her than." I said pulling my emotions back together
"She doesnt need you too. Shes able to herself." He said closing the laptop and looking at me 
"Jennifer, let her do this. I will make damn sure she will only stay part of the BAU." He said reassuring me and referring to my backstop of the DOJ
"Fine, but I want to be her supervisor during the internship." I said pointing at him
"I already figured that out." He said laughing as we said out goodbyes. Before I left he said my name making me turn around
"She reminds me of someone fearless. She is for sure your daughter. I have only seen someone take down suspects three times their size before. Your the only person who I have seen preform that amazing in the field. Have a good day Jennifer." He said as I smiled and walked out

I walked into the bullpen seeing her sitting in Emilys old desk next to mine. I realized great memories were about to happen while I worked with her.
"Hey." She said all bright eyed and smiley as I sat on the desk
"Hey, did you take it?" I asked but before she could answer Garcia interrupted us saying we have a case
"Take my car home and I will see you when we get back. You can tell me all about it when I get home." I said smiling and giving her a kiss on her head before going into the conference room.
I stood by the window watching her get my keys and walk out to the elevator. There goes my world. I thought before Garcia interrupted "Alright crime fighters a string of murders have been happening in Seattle...."
