I woke up the next morning to an empty bed. A very big bed in a very big room. As I got up to stretch, the curtains opened themselves and the sun hit my face. John walked in with breakfast on a tray.
"Good morning beautiful. How did you sleep?"
"I slept okay." I yawned.
"I was worried you'd still be in pain."
"I am but...this is where I want to be."
He smiled and gave me the tray."I'm giving you a day off today."
"Really? To what do I owe this?"
"You're my fiancé now. You don't need to work like you used to. You can even resign if you like."
"Oh no." I chuckled.
"I will be out in a few. I will leave you the car keys. You drive?"
"Well uhm...not really."
"I will make sure you know how to by the end of this week." he put his suit on.I couldn't believe I was here. After a while John kissed me goodbye and left for Smith Towers. I was left in that big mansion.
The housekeeper knocked.
"Come in" I said.
"Good morning ma'am." she said.
"Morning...uhm...?"
"Christina."
"Christian, oh yes." I chuckled.
"Are you ready to be up or should Christina give ma'am more time?"
"Oh don't worry, I am up. Soon as I figure out what to do."
"Ma'am so much to do at Mr. Smith's mansion. Tennis, swimming, go shopping, plan parties. Everything."
"Oh thanks Christina. Now that I remember, I need to go and collect the rest of my things. I need to take a taxi."
"Oh. No taxi. Range Rover, BMW,Porsche,Mini and Jeep outside for you."
"Oh no Christine, I don't drive."
"Chauffeur David."
"Oh...there's a chauffeur too? Okay. Let me go take a shower."
"I make hot bath ready for you. Don't worry."
"Oh no need to , Chris."
"Mr. Smith's orders." She smiled.Christina prepared the best bath for me ever. The bathroom was the size of my whole house. I looked around in amazement. I stepped into the foam bath water and I exhaled. I forgot all my troubles and exhaled.
After an hour of that I walked into my bedroom to see a rack of dresses pulled out for me. They were all so elegant. I looked at each one carefully. I was so amazed. Is this how rich women really lived?
At last, I picked one out. I picked out a white cocktail dress with largely printed pink roses on it. I wore black heels and there was a large hat to match my outfit. Those huge white church hats.
When I was ready I walked down the stairs. It was amazing. I was going to marry one of the richest men in the city, probably in the world. The Range Rover was already waiting for me at the door.
David opened the back door for me then closed it and ran to the driver's seat.
I told him where to go but we never really exchanged a conversation. He seemed to know his way well around.
