It had been a while since Bandz returned. We lived together in my house. We swore we would move to his after marriage. There was a difference in my house. The sun was shining brighter. I was happier. If I knew any better, grandmama was also getting stronger. I felt happy.
We woke up in the morning for work. Bandz had helped me out with the geyser so we had warm water running out from the tap. He helped me leave breakfast and lunch for grandmama. He gave me a ride to the farm and I went in for my duties. Linda had been healing very well since the death of Don. She was happily single and wasn't looking.
"I'm really glad to see you healing ,Linda."
"I'm really glad to see you glowing again,Gwen. Come on, spill the beans!"
"Haha there is nothing to tell you,my friend. Things are just looking up at the house. Are you coping?"
"Oh I'm a big girl, don't worry about me. I am doing fine. My sister comes in now and then to see me."
"That's nice. Tiffany and Bethany don't seem to care much,if you ask me."
"Don't worry about it,deep down, they do love you,girl."Mrs. Smith walked in.
"Chatting when we're supposed to be working, are we? I don't pay you to chat. Now get on with your duties."Linda and I exchanged confused looks.
"I thought she liked us." I whispered
"Me too!" Linda whispered back.We went back to do our duties.
Later that afternoon, Bandz picked me up from the farm in his van.
"It's been worrying me. There's creaking in the engine and it will cost me an arm and a leg to fix."
"Don't worry about it . You will get it fixed. If not, we can use your bicycle for transport. You will carry me."
He laughed "you're not 15 anymore so it's easier said than done."
"Haha you old bum! I miss those days. When you carried me on your bicycle and frightened me with your riding skills."
"Yup. You were such a sissy."
"I am a girl after all."He drove into a restaurant. It was our local restaurant. I looked at him in confusion.
"Bandz. We don't have the money. You don't have to bring me here. I'm happy going home to prepare a meal for us."
"Don't you remember this place?" He ignored me.
"I do..."
"Yup...This is where it all happened."
"We were 10. I saw you with Mary Jane and I was so jealous."
"But you didn't know she was helping me get through to you." He opened the car door for me
"How could you have been so afraid to make a move when you had known me for 5 years at the time." I hopped out of the car.
"I don't know. I always thought you'd say I'm disgusting and you only see me as a friend."
"Well you are disgusting sometimes" I joked.
