It was here. It was my wedding. After everything I had been through I was marrying the richest man in the city. Who would have thought that after the tough background I came from I would end up here.
My sisters were at the Country Club in the morning to help me get dressed. That's where we were having the wedding. It was specially closed down for us and for the media. Grandmama was there too. It was beautiful. I was so happy. The rich socialites would come in to take a sneak at me and wish me well. My husband wasn't allowed to see me until I walked down the aisle.
Everybody left the room to go and take their places. I looked at myself in the mirror. I was ravishing.
My wedding gown was custom made from Louis Vuitton. The veil was 5 meters long. It was exquisite. My big day has arrived. In an even classier way than I imagined. I wish my father was here to witness this day. I wish I had a brother to walk me down the aisle. Unfortunately I had nobody. It was just me.
Everybody was already seated in the garden and the cameras were already rolling, taking snaps of the high profile celebrities who came to support me on my wedding.
It was time.
I walked out of the room and the fresh air hit my face. The sunshine hit my face. I was glowing.
I arrived at the aisle and before I could walk I had to stand so the cameras could take a proper shot of me and so that my husband can crawl on his knees for me.
I put a smile and looked around at all the guests. My smile became ungenuine when I noticed Linda in the crowd. If Linda is here then it means...
"Hey, I will walk you down the aisle." A voice said.
I turned to see who it was. It was Bandz. There was no time to argue or make it seem obvious that I'm shocked so I gave him my arm and we walked down the aisle.
I could see the fury in John's eyes but we both couldn't react to what we felt at the moment.Walking down the aisle , I remembered. how we pretended that one day we'd be married. I remember how we'd pretend to be married as teenagers. I remembered that this was actually supposed to be me and him. All those memories hit me at once.
We arrived at the altar and he looked at John.
"Take care of her. I am giving her away to you."
he looked at me, lifted my veil, kissed my forehead and said "I will always love you, Gwen."
he then turned to go and sit down. He didn't sit next to Linda, though.I could have died right there. I looked at grandmama and she was just as shocked.
I stood at the altar face to face with John. The pastor began the ceremony. He then asked if anyone is against the union of John and I. I looked around, hoping Bandz will stand up but sadly he didn't.
Then the question came up.
"Do you, John-Henry Smith take Gwendolyn Palmer to be your lovely wedded wife?"
"I do." he smiled at me and I could hear the crowd admire.
The question came to me "Do you, Gwendolyn Palmer, take John Henry to be your lovely lawfully wedded husband."
I looked at John and smiled then I looked at the pastor. I looked at Linda then Bandz. I looked at Linda again and she signaled to me that she and Bandz were over."Miss Palmer?" The pastor asked.
"I...I..." I looked at Bandz.
I paused."I...don't." I looked down and heard the crowd let out gasps of shock. I saw Bandz stand up and walk away.
"Excuse me, Miss Palmer. Maybe you didn't hear the question clearly."
"No, I did. John...I'm sorry." I took off my heels and veil and ran after Bandz."Bandz! Bandz! Baby! Baby I'm so sorry! You're the one I love. I can't be without you, please."
He slowly turned around and looked at me.
"Oh really?"
"Why are you making this hard? You know and could see I've always wanted you."
"You left me."
"But I didn't give myself to him fully. Bandz. When I was living the rich life I realized that it's not for me. That home is where happiness is. My happiness was always downtown. I missed all of that. The walks, the van, our struggles were difficult but I would rather go through with them than with be stuck with a rich man who doesn't satisfy me emotionally."I saw tears in Bandz's eyes.
"Baby." he said.
"Let's have our wedding here, right now!" he continued."Nonsense!" Anne said.
"Anne, we don't have to have it here." I said.
"My son didn't pay so much money for you to have your wedding here with this man."John approached us. I became scared but the tone of his voice changed everything.
"No, mom. Let them have their wedding here. She already has the dress and people to witness. Let her have it here."I walked to John. "Do you mean it?"
"Bandz is a lucky man. To have someone who only wants him this bad. I cannot stand in the way of such happiness. I'm willing to give you back to him, Gwen." he smiled.
"John...you don't know what this means to me. Thank you, so much." I kissed his forehead.
"I will never forget you,Gwen."
"You changed my life, John and I wish you the best." I kissed his forehead and ran back to Bandz."Are you ready to be Mrs. Bandz Williams?" Bandz asked me.
"Out of the Babel was Bandz and Gwen." I chuckled.Tiffany walked to us "well, is there going to be a wedding or what.?"
Bandz and I smiled at her "yes there is."
