It Only Takes a Second... (Kid, AU)

It only takes a second...
for your whole world to change.
 
  "Get out," a plate smashes into the wall just beside his head. Tears streaming down her face as her heart breaks. Why can't he ever be honest?
  "If that's what you really want, fine," he glares at her before he turns around and walks out the door, slamming it behind him.
  She bites her bottom lip and falls to the floor. Everything I ever do is a mistake. She drags herself over to the shattered fragments, but just leaves it for him to clean up later. I'm not ready to be judged everyday.

It only takes a second...
for all of it to fall apart.

  She pulls her hair out of her face and stares in the mirror. She was going to do it. She was going to tell him today, that she couldn't do it anymore. She was done with all this nonsense.
  How he'd go to the clubs to his friends and flirt around with other woman, but she isn't allowed to do what she wanted. She was going to do it.
  It always starts with a fight. Every conversation they have. She told him how she felt, but he always had a come back.
  "I wish I was a boy! I'd be better than you! I'd listen to her! 'Cause I know how it hurts!" she wipes her tears away, "When your man takes you for granted and everything you had got destroyed!"
  "But you're not a boy! So I go to clubs! So I flirt with other girls! I should be allowed to, as long as I'm coming back to you!" the amber-eyed male slams his hands on the table, "You're not a boy, so you don't have a clue! How I work and pay the bills! Hell, everything I do is for you!"
  "Then you should show it more!" she brushes past him and opens the front door.
  "(Y/n), if you walk out that door, we're through!" Kid growls without turning back to look at her, "I won't ever let you back in. Ever."
  "Maybe that's for the best, Kid," she walks out and slams the door behind her. The tears in her eyes flood over and she sits on the doorsteps.

It only takes a second...
for your life to come crashing down.

  She sits in the bar with a drink in her hand. Her phone has been off and she told everyone it's broken. She feels a presence behind her, so she turns around. There stands Kid, his hair sticking to his scalp because of its wet state.
  She tries to look away again, but he catches her chin, "I'm sorry. You won't ever hear me say it again after this, but I'm sorry, (Y/n), but you're not a boy. You couldn't understand. You're not a perfect woman, and I'm not a perfect man."
  She looks into his eyes, "It's a little late for that."
  "But I can't let you go, 'cause I'm too in love. Please, can you look deep into your heart and forgive this imperfect boy?" he takes her hands and kneels down, "I'm begging you here."

But it only takes a minute...
to find your place again.

  Her eyes widen. She never thought she'd get to see Eustass Kid, kneeling down in front of her. She leans forward and kisses him, "I hate how I can't stay mad at you."
  He stands up and picks her up, taking her back to their shared house, "But I love you, so you're going to have to deal with it for a while."

And after it's all over...
you've made that relationship...
that much stronger.
