I missed Sanji's birthday, (March 2), but I needed to upload something, so here you guys go.
--------------------------------
Her grip on the steering wheel tightens and her knuckles turn white. Tears stream from her eyes as she speeds through all the green lights on the empty streets. Her mind reels over all that recently happened. Her parents had a falling out, all of her friends have went their separate ways, her boyfriend left her because his parents didn't approve. She was left alone; all alone. Was I always this useless?!
She looks up to see the light turn read and a car drive where she would've been if she didn't jam on the breaks. She finally breaks and pulls over to the side of the road and let's the sobs rack her body; not caring if people saw or just passed by without a second, or third or fourth, or any thought at all.
She hates the feeling in her stomach as she bites her lip at least trying to stop the sound. She pulls her car back into the street and continued to drive to an empty parking lot. She gets out of the car and watches the stars twinkle in the sky; it only happens on a planet like Earth because of the atmosphere.
She shakes her head and starts up the mountain. Her class had been up this very route on a field trip, that was when everything seemed perfect; flawless. The group stayed together, there was never a dull moment, they were there for each other.
"Sanji?" her legs dangled as she sat on a giant rock and tilted her head so her (h/c) stands fell in her eyes.
"Yes, (Y/n)-chan?!" he so eagerly looked towards her; expecting something different. Or maybe it was her who expected something to play out differently this time; like all the other times she'd gone through this.
She took a deep breath before she spoke, "Will we always be able to stay like this?"
He seemed to process these words before smiling happily, "I don't know. Hey Luffy! What do you think?"
Without missing a beat Luffy automatically yells from across the landing, "Of course!"
"You don't even know what we're talking about here!" she yells back at him and feels her cheeks heat in embarrassment as everyone else laughs.
"Which makes it all the more reassuring, doesn't it?" Sanji's smile just made the whole world line up perfectly; too perfect.
Even now as she tried to think of it, she couldn't remember what she had said back to him that day. She sighs as she takes one step at a time now making her way up to the very same spot; that earlier had became their usual hang out spot.
Lair. When she makes it to the top it's already sunrise. No one will miss me at home, not at this hour at least. She watches the pink and oranges intermingle.
She never really fit in. She'd always been the one bouncing from group to group, but with Luffy's group, she felt like she'd found her place. Just when she thought she'd found the one place she belonged, nothing ended right.
She stands up on the rock. What's so reassuring about that?! Tears stream down her face as she takes a deep breath of fresh air; way above other people, far away, a place where no one would care about her.
Is that what she really wanted? At this point in time, she has no idea. She has no idea that people do care. That at that very same instant, her boyfriend of four years was on his way. He had this foreboding feeling that he just couldn't shake, and that text she'd sent gave him more chills than it did to reassure him.
What the hell do you mean (Y/n)?! What do you mean goodbye? What do you mean, 'last chance'?! What do you mean by 'making things the way they should be'?! What do you mean by 'fixing' things?! What are you planing to do?! He pounds on the steering wheel as a train just so happens to decide to get in his way. This is definitely not our last goodbye! Not if I can help it!
In the distance, she can hear another train and decides that she's stalled long enough. No one's coming. No one will ever come. She lifts her arms and sighs, the wind blowing; her hair danced, moving along with the periodic gusts. Why is it, that at these times, I'm always hesitant?! I need to show that I'm not doing this to get attention! I need to show people I'm serious. I'm not just some pushover! I'm not someone you can take lightly! I'm not a child!
"Then shouldn't you be doing the opposite? Showing them you're strong enough to take what they have to say head on?"
"Oh, like you do?"
"Yeah, I guess you could say that."
"Come on! You know that was sarcasm!"
"Oh! But I really do go through that all the time, being judged, isn't that bad, (Y/n)-chan. It just means the envy you."
"Yeah, right. What's to be so envious about? How ugly I can be. How completely and utterly alone I've been up until now?" she rolled her eyes at his comment and brushed it off easily.
"No, quite the opposite. You're really smart. I admire you. You're beauty, your intellect, your bravery... and... well... and..." he trailed off gazing at her lips.
"And?" she glances at him as to study him, trying to figure out what he was thinking, but it was pointless.
He already had his hand on her cheek and was leaning into kiss her lips, "You're not alone anymore, you have us."
He closed the space between them in two seconds, but the kiss lasted longer. He refused to let her go until he was sure she couldn't fight back anymore.
"(Y/n)!" her name being called shocked her back to the reality, she turns around to see her blonde haired chef. Completely out of breath, his voice ragged, and his hair a complete mess, "What are you doing?"
"I'm righting a wrong, can't you tell?" she puts her arms to her side, but then wipes away the tears, "What are yo-"
"What wrong!?" he screams out, taking them both by surprise, and causing him to lower his voice, "What wrong are you trying to fix?"
"Living," she couldn't look him in the eyes, as much as she wanted to, she just couldn't.
"That's not a wrong!" he tries to swallow the lump in his throat, "can you step away from the edge? Or at least off the rock?"
She shakes her head, "You don't even want me! What's the point?!"
He looks taken a back; the last he knew, they were in a happy relationship, since when didn't he want her? "(Y/n), I have no ide-"
"I heard you and you parents! T-they don't like me," she wipes the tears as they appear, "I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I jus-"
He starts to laugh, "I don't care what they think! (Y/n), I love you!"
"But you'll be disow-"
"Screw them and all that wealth!" he smiles at her, "(Y/n), I wanted to ask you after we graduated high school two years ago, to marry me, but I never got the right chance. Please, (Y/n), don't do this, I want to start a family with you. I want us... I want you and me... to be our own family. Even if I have to make my own way. I-I want you. No person my 'parents' could approve of would be as half amazing as you! Please, get down from there."
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"Yeah, okay," she starts to step down, but somehow manages to lose her footing. All of a sudden, he name is being called and the earth was taken right out from under her.
Talk about anticlimactic. To go in such away. She decides to close her eyes to enjoy the fall, but she feels something clamp around her wrist. She looks up and right into Sanji's eyes.
"I'm not letting you go this time," he breaths out and she can swear she sees his eyes a little red. Was he crying over me earlier? "I'm never letting go. That's pretty reassuring, right?"
She thinks about this, how did I answer this that one time? She looks over at the sun rise, "I... don't know."
He laughs and tries to pull her up, he ended up having to reach down and grab her other arm and drag her up that way, literally. When he pulls her up all the way he collapses into the ground, but takes her into a hug, "Don't ever do that again."
"I wouldn't ever dream about it."
"You better not."
----------------------------------------
"Which makes it all the more reassuring, doesn't it?" Sanji's smile just made the whole world line up perfectly.
"I don't know," she leaned back on the rock and looks across the edge at the long way down, "I think, it scares me."
