The engine slowly comes to an end and her eyes watch intently as his hands–with his nails a dark blood-red–grip the helmet and rips it off his head. His red hair flops into his eyes before he runs the painted fingers through it so it spikes up. Suddenly his eyes look at her and he smirks.
They have a staring contest before she's suddenly taken back into reality, "(Y/n)! What's wrong with you? We asked you the same question five times!"
Her group of friends turn around to see what she was staring at and they immediately face her again, "Are you okay? You do know who that is right?"
She nods; she's well aware of Kid Eustass and all of his ways, yet she's attracted to him. You might attract more flies with honey, but she was definitely attracted to the vinegar. It wasn't going to spoil, and she knew that there had to be more to him than what everyone else sees; something he doesn't want other people to know.
Even though she's known him since before middle school, she still know very little about him as a person. She doesn't know what he feels or why he does the things he does. But she really wanted to. She wanted to give him a chance because it seemed no one else was really willing to.
When they were in high school, that's when she knew that this feeling, this attraction she felt to him... was more than just trying to be a good person. It's what every girl dreams about, with the guy of their dreams.
It's not like she was a goody-goody, but it was still a shock that she liked someone like him. Someone who bullied people just for the hell of it, because it was funny. Yet she did fall, she fell straight from the sky and right into the palm of his hand.
She couldn't help that his amber eyes enticed her, brought her in and made her question reality. Or that the every time she heard his motorcycle, her knees grew weak. Something about him just made her heart jump and the adrenaline pump through her veins.
By the time she looks back to where he parked his cruiser, he was already gone–probably to go smoke a cigarette before school starts. So her friends end up dragging her to class to try and get her mind off of him. Not like that really helped, because as soon as he walked in the classroom–late–all eyes were on him.
He gives the teacher an innocently devious smile before taking his seat, the scent of the smoke and his cologne waft over to (Y/n), who happens to sit behind him. By now, the teacher has learned to just mark him tardy, if they acknowledge that he's entered the class and ask why he was late... well it always ends in the class laughing.
"Now, you're all going to get into pairs for this assignment. I don't care who's with who, just one other person. No groups of three," the teacher sends a glance over to (Y/n) and her friends.
Kid turns around and looks at her, "You were staring at me earlier."
"So what if I was?" she sighs, already knowing that she'd probably be the odd one out this time and left without a partner. "Sue me for staring."
"Feisty," he smirks before turning his desk around completely. "You have a partner yet? Killer isn't here today, so I don't have one."
"Where's Killer? Is he okay?" she tilts her head and stares at him, completely concerned for the masked man.
"He's in jail," Kid clicks his pencil so that only most of the piece of lead stuck out. "He massacred the family down the street."
For a second she completely believed him and covered her mouth in shock, but by the way he started to laugh she could tell that it was just a joke. Her raised eyebrows turned into furrowed ones and she scrunches her face in distaste, "You're horrible!"
"I try," he sighs before holding down the button on the pencil and shoving the lead all the way back into the container. "Tell me why you were staring, (Y/n)."
"Make me," she takes the paper from their teacher as he walks around to hand them out.
"Is that a challenge?" Kid leans forward in his chair to stare into her (e/c) orbs. "If it is, I will gladly accept it."
"Tell me why Killer really isn't here," she stares back, which doesn't just surprise him and everyone in the room, but her as well. "Then I'll think about it."
"Oh," he leans back in his chair and his lips form a smile. "We're playing that game. Okay, well, Killer isn't here because he got sick. He has the flu, supposedly, and he'll be back in two to three days. Supposedly. Your turn."
She nods and looks at the paper in front of her, "Motorcycles have always caught my attention. I've always wanted to ride one, so sorry to burst your bubble."
"How about I give you one," he gets a strange look from her, a confused look. "A ride. How about I give you a ride. On the motorcycle."
Her eyes widen and she instantly starts to smile, "Do you mean it?"
"Sure," he smirks and points at the paper. "But we've got bigger things to worry about."
"Oh shoot!" she grabs her pencil and starts to fill out the paper. She doesn't even look up at him before she's done and he's a little upset that she did all the work, but mostly glad because he had no fucking clue what they were doing.
After the bell rings to let the class out, he stands up and leaves. Her friends come over and they start their pointless freaking out and they pummel (Y/n) with questions.
She just ignores them as she goes to her next class, it pretty much killed her knowing that he promised to give her a ride. She never knew that he would actually be nice enough to offer. By the end of the day, she's smiling too much and she bursts out of the door.
She immediately feels the cold bite her and she regrets not wearing a jacket. She wraps her hands around her arms before feeling something heavy on her back. She turns to see that Kid had placed his leather jacket around her, "If you're riding with me, you've gotta dress warmer. Let's go."
"What about you?" she puts her arms through the warm sleeves as she follows him to his motorcycle.
"Don't worry about me," he kicks up the stand and glances at her. "Hop on."
He grabs his helmet and holds it out for her to take. She shakes her head as she awkwardly gets on the back of the seat, "You should wear that, you're driving."
He shrugs before putting it on his head, he turns around, reaches into the breast pocket in the jacket, and pulls out his goggles, "I need these more than that. My skull is thick enough."
"You shouldn't put yourself down li-" she gets cut off as the engine roars up and drowns her voice out.
She takes one last look around the school and she sees her friends whispering about something before his voice makes her snap to attention, "Put your arms around me, you'll fall off if you don't. Don't worry, I showered today. I don't stink too badly."
She shakes her head before she takes his advise and wraps her arms around his torso. She leans into him and his body heat seeps through the leather making her want to get closer.
She hugs him tighter, which causes him to smirk before he pushes off and leaves the school parking-lot behind. She watches as the scenery floats by and tries to savor every moment of this ride, because after all it could be the only one she gets.
Every once in a while the cold wind slaps her in the face, but she isn't too fazed... until the cold made her realize just how warm Kid is. She takes a deep breath as she closes her eyes and she swears that she can still smell the smoke from his last cigarette... whenever that was.
She opens her eyes again as they slow to a stop. He takes off his helmet and looks at her, the sunset perfectly framing his body perfectly. He turns around in the seat to face her, and his amber eyes look like they have a fire burning within them. The lightning bugs now coming out as time slowly slips by, the weird thing is... she can't even recall how it does... she just blinks and the stars were shinning.
She stares at the sky, her (e/c) orbs glowing with the wonder and curiosity. Without either one of them knowing, his lips curve into a half-smile–one of those that would melt you're heart if it were directed at you; that smile that the guy who likes you wouldn't want you to know he sent your way.
She sighs and pulls on the jacket to get more warmth. She curses school for letting out so late and curses all the classes she'd taken; she just wished that college would be over already. She breaths out and the white fog that blows through the air hits the red-head right in the face.
"So-"
"Why'd-"
"You go first."
"No, you go first."
"Alright," she sighs as she looks away and off in the distance. "So why'd you give me a ride. I didn't take you for the type of guy to give out free rides."
He laughs slightly before catching a strand of her (h/c) hair that was swaying in the wind, "I simply wanted to try something new. In the spirit of all the things that have been going on. Plus, you're an attractive woman. You always have been, (Y/n)."
Her face flushes before she feels his hand, ice cold, rub her cheek and tilt her head up. She watches as he slowly starts to lean in, his eyes close and hers flutter shut as well. Once his lips land on hers, she moves her hand to the back of his neck.
Her lips tingle as his lips meet hers again, not really giving her time to savor her first kiss. She doesn't know if she was doing it right, all she knows is that she's enjoying him. So her hand moves up to the back of his head and she pulls him closer. His hair feels soft between her fingers as they both deepen the kiss.
His tongue runs over her lips and she opens her mouth just a enough for him to slip it in. His hands run though her hair before trailing down her sides to her hips, he pulls her closer to him, and rests his hands there. Meanwhile, his tongue pushes deeper inside her mouth and he tries to map it out.
Her heart races and she feels her stomach doing somersaults. She loves him so much she can hardly breath, and this moment feels as if it could go on forever. She feels his tongue graze over her teeth before he pulls away. He stares into her eyes, and suddenly she feels embarrassed.
She tries to look away, but he grabs her chin and forces her to face him again before taking her lips. When he pulled away for the second time, she could swear that he was blushing, but it could've just been the cold air getting to him.
He clears his throat, suddenly having no idea what to say. He pulls out his phone and curses under his breath, "I should get you home... it's getting late."
She nods as he turns back around and puts the keys in the ignition. Before he starts it up and makes a lot of noise, he speaks quietly, "I love you, (Y/n)."
She wraps her arms around him, and she knows that he didn't want her to answer him right away. Maybe because he was afraid of what she'd say. But she didn't try to care too much, she only cared that he had told her that he loved her, and that she'll be able to say to back to him when they get to her house.
Once they stop at a red light, he speaks to her but without looking at her, "I don't think I know where you live exactly."
"It's just on the next block," she snuggles into his back before sighing out the whole street completely empty and silent beside the humming of the motor and their voices. "It's a (house color) home with a wrought iron fence that compliments it well. Or so said my mother."
He nods before the light turns green and he takes her to her house. Because of the fence, he had to let her off by the sidewalk. But it's not like she minded, instead she takes off his helmet for him and kisses his lips, "Thank you for today. I really enjoyed it, Kid."
"Yeah," he nods before brushing a (h/c) strand out of her face. "Anytime you want a ride, I'll take you out. Just call."
"Of course," she hands him her phone to put in his number, and once he hands it back to her she kisses his cheek. "I love you too, Kid."~Ride End~
