Song: The Words I Never Said (ft. Skylar Grey)
Artist: Lupe Fiasco-
His golden eyes bore into the wall behind her as she wraps the gauze around his fist; the blood already seeping through the fabric. She sighs, not knowing that she's letting too much exhaustion show, "You worry me, Law."
Ever since his ex-girlfriend broke off their two year relationship, he's been distant, getting into more fights, and it seems that he's not going to last much longer. It hurts her to see him in this much pain. Pain? He never shows it, but she's known him since... forever. It's easy to look at someone and understand them when you're-when you care for them and you have ever since you met them.
"I'm sorry that I'm making you worry," she grabs the medical tape, places it between her teeth, and rips off a piece. She places the small strip on the end to hold the gauze in place. "But no one ever told you to care for me."
"I know, but it's not hard to do," she grabs a bandaid, and sticks it on his cheek where, she guesses someone had cut or scratched him earlier because, there was a small cut. His eyes close once her fingers near the cut, finally making her realize that he's not completely out of it. "Even if I didn't want to care about you, I feel the need to. It's like I'm your mother..."
She runs her finger over the bandaid to make sure the adhesive stays on his skin. He wraps his arms around her waist before she sits down next to him and wraps her arms around him. He pulls her closer to him as he places his chin on her head, "Thanks, mother."
She laughs slightly at the fact that he continued her joke before she rubs his back and tries to think of something to say. She bites her lip as he sighs out, "Are you feeling any better now?"
"Yeah," he replies, sounding like he's rehearsed it a million times. "I am."
She pulls her arms away and sits back before placing the palms of her hands on his cheeks to make sure he's looking her in the eyes, "Are you sure?"
He can hear the worry in her voice, and that honestly makes him want to tell the truth, but his answer comes out of his mouth before he can filter it, "Yeah. I'm sure."
She nods, knowing that she shouldn't push it more than she already has. She then forces a small smile, knowing that she can't show too much weakness. He's so focused on her (e/c) orbs that he doesn't even notice himself leaning in closer to her face.
Suddenly he stops, too close to her mouth. He swallows loudly, but it's still not louder than the beating of her heart in her ears. It feels like it's going to explode out of her chest, it's making her breathless. He's too close.
He tilts his head before they both close their eyes, he places his hand on the back of her head and he guides her lips to his. She feels the fabric on her skin, but doesn't feel the skin to skin contact. She opens her eyes to see him farther away from her and looking down.
She smiles before she stands up and his hand falls from her, she touches his cheek and when he looks at her she gives him a small wave, "I gotta go now. I've got homework to finish."
He nods before standing up and walking her to the front door, "I'm sorry... I don't know-"
She places her hand on his shoulder and shakes her head, "I could've stopped you, but I didn't, Law."
She leans in and kisses his cheek, nothing really new, just something she hasn't done in a while. She waves goodbye again before she pulls out her keys and unlocks the doors to her (color) (car type). He doesn't close his front door until her vehicle is out of sight.
They don't talk for the next few days because their schedules never allowed them to; with her balancing college and her job, and him with medical school and the homework it entails. She doesn't know if that was a good thing, or if she was upset about it.
Every time she thought about what happened the other day, she could feel herself getting embarrassed. Sure, she's known for a long time that she's liked him in a romantic way, but he was in that relationship... and happy. And now... she didn't think that he was ready to move on.
Of course if she waited too long, there was always the chance that she'd waste the opportunity to date him, but as long as he's happy, she didn't care, right? She falls onto the couch and closes her eyes. Maybe he'll avoid me now because he doesn't like me that way and he's embarrassed? No. Law isn't like that.
The doorbell rings and she gets up, confused on what's going on, she wasn't supposed to have company today. Maybe it's Law? She opens the door to come face to face with Law...'s ex.
She barges in and starts to question (Y/n) on how Law's been since the break up and if she thinks they have a second chance and this and that and the other thing. (Y/n) doesn't really pay attention, she feels as if all her hopes have been slaughtered.
Seeing as how Law's been acting, she wouldn't be surprised if Law did get back with her. And that's exactly what (Y/n) told her. She wouldn't lie if it meant that Law could go back to being the same happy man as when he was dating his ex.
Once the other woman leaves, (Y/n) sits down at the table and cracks open her school books. She looses track of time, but when she looks up, she realizes that it's been three hours since his ex visited. They're probably together again by now. She closes her eyes as they start to sting.
Even though she told herself that she would be okay as long as he happy, something tells her that's only a deceiving front. She hears a horn from a car outside and she stands up to check it. She opens the door to see Law standing outside his car, waiting for her.
She pulls on a jacket before walking outside, the cold weather making her seriously hate the place she lives. She walks over to him and tilts her head, "What's up? What brings you here this late? It's dark out, do you want to come inside?"
He shakes his head and stares at her. She gets the chills and wraps her arms around herself, "Alright... well... what's wrong then?"
"My ex. She told me that she wanted to get back together," he looks down at the bandage still around his hand as he leans against the car. She makes a small noise as she nods her head, signaling him to continue speaking, "But I told her I didn't want to. She got really upset and started to scream at me."
He sighs out and looks at the sky, the stars slightly twinkling. He glances at her out of the corner of his eye as she speaks, completely surprised, "What? Why? I thought you were in love with her?"
"No, I mean. I might've been at one point," he turns back to face her and shrugs. "I don't even know, but I do know something. I'm not in love with her now."
"Oh," she wraps her arms around her body even tighter. "I'm sorry to hear that."
"You shouldn't be," he gets off the car and pulls her body against his. "Because it made me realize that I love having you around. That you mean more to me than she ever did. I don't want to throw this word out there, but I believe that I'm in love with you, (Y/n)-ya. But I can't be certain... I don't even think I've ever experienced real, pure love before."
Her face heats up as she wraps her arms around him, "I could teach you if you give me the chance, because Law, I know for a fact that I love you."
"I'd really enjoy that."
