Chapter 53-Happiness after Sickness

Bryan's POV

My eyes opened automatically when I realized that I was alone already on our bed. Ngayon lang yata naunang magising si Shane sa akin.

Pero mabilis namang kumunot ang noo ko when I heard something weird inside the bathroom. Kinabahan ako kaya mabilis akong napabangon.

"Shane?" tawag ko sa kanya habang palapit sa banyo. Pero napatakbo na ako when I suddenly realized what was happening.

"Sh*t!" I hissed under my breath when I saw her throwing up on the toilet bowl. Mabilis akong napalapit sa kanya at lumuhod sa tabi niya. Ito ang pinaka ayaw ko sa lahat. Noong buntis si Mommy noon, nasaksihan ko kung paanong hirap na hirap siya sa morning sickness niya kaya alam kong nahihirapan din si Shane ngayon.

I caressed her back while whispering some comforting words to her. Pinapahid ko rin ang pawis sa noo niya habang sumusuka siya kahit wala naman siyang inilalabas bukod sa laway niya.

Umiiyak na siya when she's finally finished throwing up. She flopped down on the floor weakly. I pulled her head to lean it on my chest. She was sweating and still crying. Mas mahirap palang masaksihan ang ganoon kapag sarili mong asawa ang nakikita mong nahihirapan. Tuwang-tuwa pa naman ako noon dahil hindi siya nakakaramdam ng morning sickness. Pero bakit bigla yata siyang nagsuka ngayon? Maybe I should ask Tita Beatriz regarding this.

"Can you stand up already?" I asked her after she calmed down.

She slowly shook her head on my chest, eyes still closed. "I'm still dizzy." She replied weakly.

Mga ilang minuto pa kaming nakaupo doon bago niya sinabing kaya na niyang tumayo. Inalalayan ko siya patayo saka iginiya papunta sa sink para makapag mumog at makapag-hilamos. Ako na ang nagpunas ng mukha niya gamit ang towel na nahablot ko.

I gently smiled at her to tell her that it's okay. "Still dizzy?"

Tumango lang siya.

Binuhat ko na siya palabas ng bathroom. Hindi na siya tumanggi dahil mukhang nanghihina talaga siya.

I gently laid her on our bed I lay down on my stomach beside her. I lowered my head on her tummy and caressed it. "Hey there, little one. Please don't give Mommy a hard time, okay? Kawawa naman siya eh." I kissed her tummy before I went up to her face to kiss her forehead. "I'll just go downstairs to get us some food, okay?"

"Uh-hmmm..."

"Will you be okay here?"

"Yeah."

Bumaba na ako mula sa kama at nagpunta sa kitchen. Inabutan ko si Mommy na kumukuha ng tubig sa water dispenser.

"Morning, Son." She smiled at me before drinking her water.

I also smiled at her. "Morning, Mom." I went to the counter to look for food.

"Tapos nang magluto sila Manang. Nagpe-prepare na sila sa dining room. By the way, ngayon mo ba ipapakita kay Shane ang surprise mo sa kanya?"

I gently shook my head sadly.

She frowned. "Why?" she asked curiously, somewhat worried habang inilalagay sa sink ang basong ininuman niya.

"Morning sickness."

Her lips parted a little. "Oh..."

Sumandal ako sa counter. "Bakit gano'n, Mommy? Wala naman siyang morning sickness dati, ah?"

"Son, you look awful. Do you know that? Well, maybe it will help you feel better if I tell you that having morning sickness, though hard for pregnant women to go through, is still good for them. You see, it only means that the levels of pregnancy hormones in the body of your wife are high. The sickness she feels is connected to the hormones and oestrogen. And these hormones are produced by her body in until her placenta has grown enough to take over nourishing your baby."
