Day of the War

One of the soldiers shot his first arrow. Soon enough, an army of marching soldiers made it over to the battle ground. They all waited, raising their flags high in the air. Roderich and Elizaveta, both sitting on their horses, waited as well.

"Stay still, Yao. Geez." Alfred harshly whispered, just as he crouched down behind a bush.

"I cannot help it! It nerve wracking to be here, aru..."

"Don't you have any self control? Use you're common sense! It's kill or be killed around here."

Yao's trembling worsened even more.

"And I assumed we gathered brave warriors to the battlefield. If we don't win the battle, we won't even win the actual war." Francis sighed, crouching besides the two men.

"It's do or don't do, right?" Gilbert asked, looking out into the open with his bow and arrows equipped. As he leaned against the tree, all he did was stand there. "What do you think, Matthew?"

"As long as no one's hurt and get back to (Name) right away. She must be worried right now." Matthew sighed.

No one said a word.

By then, Alfred instantly stood up, leaving his station.

"Alfred, where are you going?" asked Gilbert.

"I'm going to contact Roderich and join the battle right away."

"But...you can't leave your post." Francis claimed.

Matthew seemed to avert his gaze from the scene and watched his side battle with the opposing army. "We're just here to act as defense, right?" Matthew whispered to himself, hurt filled in his eyes. "How come we're not being useful yet?"

"I'll be off. See me on the battle grounds, okay?" Alfred announced to his fellow friends, giving his last smile before he jogged away. His echoing war screams were soon engulfed by the sound of slicing skin and metal.

He never returned since.

-

Francis and Gilbert were soon called over to the battlefield. Alfred had yet to return, and as Yao can see from where he was, he saw everyone fighting. They fought for their sakes, their family, their kingdom, and their side. Yao merely sat there, watching. He didn't know what else to do other than wait for a signal.

He couldn't think of anything. Not until his signal finally came. Matthew, too, entered the battlefield.

They all fought with great effort. Some fell, failed the battle, and others continued on, thrashing with all their might.

But...

They seemed to be losing the battle. And soon enough they'll lose the war.

Just as Roderich had expected. And as the scene had been unfolded before all, it was by then where everyone had expected their fate. They weren't going to make it. Not against such a strong army.

And so...

The cascading snow fell upon the remaining soil, deafening the war cries that sat by. The night skies and the sorrowful clouds in which produced that heavy snow gracefully accompanied each other in tranquility.

"Everyone, keep fighting! For the sake of our land!" yelled Roderich, who continued to swing his sword around with all of his ability. His strength was gradually weakening, and Elizaveta took the stand to finish them off.

Countless of soldiers marched back and forth, retreating if injured and went further if unwounded. The remaining battlers who waged war on them depleted in great speeds, leaving the original warriors left to die against the soldiers.
