What's So Good About Picking Up The Pieces?

Chapter 28;

Vic walks back over to Nick and Justin with me to join their conversation.

"That was my favorite track of the whole album!"

"Me too! Yo seriously, you're the coolest dude I've ever met man."

"Same to you bro."

"You live in the area?" Justin says before taking a swig of water.

"Nah, Atlanta. Came here for vacation."

"Well we're off for 2 days before we go to West Palm, we should definitely chill."

Nick looks at his feet. "I was going to leave tomorrow, but I could stay a few more days."

I open my mouth to call Nick a jerk but my phone rings from an Unknown caller. I slide the red bar across to dismiss the call. Before I can go back to what I was doing prior to the call my phone dings to tell me I have a voicemail. I ignore it for the time being to be nosey about my best friend's plans for the next few days.

"I gotta run. I have to help at the merch table, you can get my number from Vic just call me tomorrow or the day or after man. See ya!" Justin waves to us and leaves, going to the merch table like he said.

"You jerk, you said you're leaving tomorrow!" I say turning to Nick, crossing my arms.

"Hannah's mom gets back tomorrow, so I wasn't able to stay so I was going to leave since I don't really like hotels and my ticket lets me leave whenever."

"You're lying to me." I say crossing my arms.

"Alright, I'm sorry. I just didn't want to see him hurt you. But she really does get back tomorrow and I'm nervous to meet her so I told Hannah I have to leave."

"Well now what are you going to do?" Vic questions before putting his arm around me and squeezing firmly on my waist.

"I was hoping I could stay with you guys, if you don't mind. I won't even bother you and I'll hangout with Justin so you don't have to worry about me tagging along and I-"

"Dude, I don't care the guys wont either. You could have my bunk since I sleep in the back with Aleah." Vic says to shut Nick up.

"Wait, come here Nick." I slide out of Vic's grasp and kiss him on the cheek before dragging Nick out of hearing reach of Vic. "Tomorrow is his birthday!" I whisper scream

"Ou ya gonna do the freaky?" He winks.

"May- I don't know! Listen, I've got a surprise for him tomorrow and the guys are in on ,it. They helped me with it, only thing is I have to get it all ready tomorrow morning so after we go out it will be waiting."

"So?" He says rotating his hands waiting for me to explain what he's important.

"The guys said they'll take him out for breakfast. 'Guys only' so I can. I want you to go with them. Help stall with them, get to know each other better. So he doesn't think anything is up."

"I could do that, sure. It's the least." He smiled before walking back over to Vic with myself.

"Everything alright babe?"

"Of course. We had to talk about the code."

"She didn't talk you out of anything, right? There's no rule that a best friend cant stay with another best friend and their partner?"

"No.
