Sophia
"Hello, Sophie." My worst nightmare says. I freeze for a second before trying to get out of his hold, looking at the ground. He keeps his arms wrapped around me.
"Let me go," I say, trying to keep my voice from shaking.
"What if I don't wanna?" He asks. I can hear the smirk in his voice.
"She said to let her go, so let her go," Simon growls, taking a step towards us.
"Hey I remember you, how's it going? We haven't been formally introduced ourselves. I'm Chandler," He says coolly as if he didn't hear what Simon said.
"Let her go Chan, now," Brad demands, and finally he loosens his grip and I practically run to stand behind Brad and Simon. I look over at the others and they are watching the interaction with confused expressions, except Paul has something else that I can't quite name in his eyes.
"Let's go," Simon says still glaring at Chandler, as we walk past he keeps me on his side away from Chandler.
"See you later Sophie." I wince slightly at the name. Every time I hear it, I normally get bullied so it's not something I like to hear. Simon, who still has his arm around my shoulders presses me closers to him when he feels me wince.
Why is he here?
"Who in the hell was that and why were two acting so weird?" Anna asks as soon as we get down the stairs, Simon takes his arm off my shoulders.
"That, my friends, was my jerk of a brother," Brad says, rolling his eyes.
"Okay, but what's with you and Simon, and Sophia for that matter?" She questions and I tense slightly. I really don't want to talk about this.
"We never uh... got along," I say awkwardly.
"Last one in the pool has to buy pizza!" Brad yells jumping into the pool. Me Anna and Dan stand there dumbly for a second before someone hops out of the pool, grabs me and jumps back in. I look to see who's holding me and I see Paul. I let out a scream which is muffled by the water when I feel the cold water.
"Paul!" I yell at him when we resurface.
"Hey, at least you don't have to buy pizza," He says defensively, crossing his arms across his chest.
"Fair enough, but a heads up would've been great," I tell him, acting like I'm annoyed but I can't hold off my smile.
"So not fair," Dan grumbles because he was the last one in the pool.
"It's okay bud, maybe next time," I tell him, patting him on the shoulder, accidentally splashing water in his face.
"Oh, your gonna get it now," He growls playfully, as he lunges for me I'm tugged I'm underwater and feel toned arms wrap around me, I let out a surprised squeak but obviously I'm underwater so nothing is heard. As we surface I turn around and once again find myself in Paul's arms.
"That's the second time I've saved y-" He starts but I splash water in his face and wriggle out of his grasp, swimming towards Anna. He stands there with his mouth open in shock for a second before he looks at me and then at Dan. They both lunge for me and this time no one can save me. I'm splashed from both directions and then picked up and thrown back into the pool. Then Brad picks me up and starts to tickle me.
Finally, I'm let go and am gasping for breath. "Thanks for your help Brad," I say, my voice laced with sarcasm.
"Anytime sugar." I roll my eyes at him and swim over to Anna.
-----------------------
"J-Janet?" I scream. Janet is lying on the floor. Not moving. "Janet wake up, please wake up." I cry to her. She stays unmoving.
"Soph! Wake up!" Anna says, shaking my shoulder looking at me with worried eyes.
"W-what?" I say, looking around.
"You were crying, what were you dreaming about?" She asks me.
I sigh, I guess she might as well know. "I-I was dreaming about my sister, Janet." She looks at me with shocked eyes.
"I didn't know you had a sister. Where is she?" She asks carefully.
"Um, she died this summer. She had a heart attack. We moved into her house. Mostly because of Chandler. And it was a fresh start. Also, my parents got good jobs around here. And her house was open so we took it." I explain. Anna holds a sad look in her face.
"I'm sorry Soph, I never knew," She whispers sadly.
"It's alright, sorry for waking you up." I rub my eyes tiredly and yawn.
"It's okay, I'm glad you told me." She says, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.
"Let's go back to sleep, it's three in the morning," I say through another yawn.
"Goodnight Soph."
"Night Ann."
--------------------------
I woke up to light shining right on my face and scolded myself for not closing the curtains last night. My alarm clock reads seven o'clock and the boys have a game at eight. I get up to wake Anna up from bed. "Cmon Anna, the game is in an hour." I get a mumble back and then she turns around. I decide to do what I always do when I need to wake someone up, jump. I jump on her bed until she wakes up.
After awhile Anna got up and we got ready. "Ready to go?" Anna asks.
"Yeah but grab your coat, it's gonna be cold," I tell her, picking up my own coat.
"Okay let's get going," She says once she finds her coat.
As soon as we step outside the icy air hits me like a freight train. How do people play in this. "So, if the boys win this game, they go to the semi-finals?" Anna asks as we cross the street.
"Yeah, this game should be easy enough." She nods and we walk into the grandstands, the boys are still practicing and you see their breaths.
When the boys go into the dugout I know the game is going to start and I tell Anna. "Good it's cold, so the sooner they start the sooner we can leave."
