Artist: Monica
['Angel Of Mine' is now its own separate book]
"No, No, Noooooo," Y/N screamed as her small frame flew over the casket. Tears rolled down her face, her breathing sporadic. She was a mess as she tried to reach into the casket and lay in the casket with her husband. Y/N's son, Kendrick, pulled his mother away from the body. Her body fell in to his. Her body shook as Kendrick tried to console his distraught mother. His eyes found their way to the casket as he too began to silently cry but he knew he had to be strong for his mother.-
It had been weeks since Keith's funeral and Y/N had been taking it the hardest. Her hair was disheveled, eyes bloodshot and her ribcage made an appearance on her side. The amount of sleep she was getting was evident on her face due to the bags on her eyes. She stared at herself in the mirror and began to cry. Her heart ached for husband's scent, touch and heartwarming smile. Her tears turned into whimpers as she became angry with Keith. Why would he leave her all alone? Why was he in the wrong place at the wrong time? Her voice echoed in bathroom as she began to pant and scream. Her hands collided with the mirror. Her body became limp. She slowly slid down the wall. Her hands were covered in blood but it didn't stop her from wiping her tear stained face.
The room began to become colder. Y/N hugged herself trying to warm herself up. She felt someone staring at her and when she looked up she started to shake. She couldn't believe her eyes. "Baby...?" Keith's nickname rolled off her tongue as she stared at her husband. Her happiness quickly turned in anger as she stared to him. "You left me. You shouldn't have left me." Y/N's whimpered as she cried into his chest inhaling his cologne. "How am I supposed raise this black boy alone?" Y/N whispered. Her tiny hands reached up and caressed his face. Running her hands across his freckles, something she always did to calm herself down.
"Babygirl, I'm sorry." Keith deep voice spoke sadly. He didn't think his time on Earth would end so soon. He wanted to stay and raise their 17 year old son together but God had other plans.
"I miss you so much. It gets so lonely without you." Y/N voice spoke somberly. Her heart hurt so much.
"I'm here baby, I'm here." Keith wrapped his arms around Y/N's waist repeatedly kissing her forehead.
"Ma, you okay? I heard you screaming." Kendrick rushed into the bathroom to see his mother reaching her hands up touching nothing. A faint smile stayed on her face as she continued rubbing the air.
Kendrick stared at his mother confused. He slowly walked towards her and touched her shoulder. She flinched and turned around. "Kendrick, you scared me. Look who's here?" Y/N grinned as she pointed at Keith.
Kendrick's eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. He was concerned with his mother since his father passed away. "There's no one there."
Y/N looked back where Keith was standing and notice that he wasn't there anymore. Y/N's smile faded. She began to frown. "But he was just here..."
-
Y/N was sleeping peacefully for the first time in months. She began to stir in her sleep. She felt someone caress her face. She slowly opened her eyes and she smiled when she saw those brown eyes that she loved so much, "Why didn't you let Kendrick see you. He would've been so happy to see you."
"He doesn't need help realizing that I'm gone. You do," Keith whispered as he cuddled up and rested his head onto of hers. His hands ran up and down her side. He was trying to keep her goosebumps from rising up. They laid in silence. Their body language did most of the talking.
"I want to be with you so bad." Y/N looked up at Keith teary eyed. She kissed his lips and stared into his eyes. She wanted it to be real so bad.
Keith chuckled. "I know baby but you have to take care of my baby boy."
Y/N's lip poked out making a whiny noise. "But..."
"No." Keith said sternly cutting her off . Y/N looked down at her wedding ring, twisting it around on her finger. She was hurt by what he said but she knew he was right. "...Okay."
Kendrick stood outside the door listening to his mother talking to herself. He was really concerned with his mother's health but he knew she was hurting because she just lost the love of her life so he let it go.
-
6 months later...
Y/N still talked to Keith everyday and Kendrick found himself not being able to let it go. His mother was acting crazy and trying to force him to believe that his father was still alive.
"Ma, you seriously have to stop this. Dad isn't around anymore. You're acting crazy. People are concerned. I'm concerned," Kendrick spoke to his mother sadly. He didn't want to see her like this anymore.
"He's here with us all the time. He told me he's so proud of you for making captain of the football team. He'll be rooting for you at every game. God, you look just your father." Y/N leaned against the counter smiling to herself occasionally looking at her son and Keith who stood in the corner of the room watching the conversation.
Kendrick slowly walked over to his mom and hugged tightly. Their bodies swayed back and forth. Kendrick kissed her forehead and let the tears fall. He lost his father. He didn't want to lose his mother too.
-
"Grandma, it's time. I don't want to stress myself out worrying about her anymore." Kendrick spoke into the phone.
Y/N's mother sighed knowing she had a huge decision to make. "Okay."
-
Y/N laid on Keith's chest reminiscing about their times together. "Remember that time you tried to be romantic and bought me those flowers forgetting I was allergic to them. We spent our whole second date in the ER." Y/N laughed thinking about how her face was filled hives and she couldn't stop scratching herself.
Keith smacked his teeth remembering how embarrassed he was. His face was as red as the hives on her face. "Whatever."
Their conversation was cut short by the sound of the doorbell ringing. Y/N quickly got up, smile still permanently on her face. She opened the door and greeted the men in front of her.
"Good afternoon! Are you Mrs. Powers?" The shorter man asked.
"Yes I am. How can I help you?" Y/N smiled as she felt Keith wrapped his arms around her waist and rest his chin on her head.
The darker man stared at the women before he began to explain why he was here. " We are here with Evergreen Mental Institute. There has been a request to pick you up by a Yvette Evans.
Y/N stood there confused. "That's my mother. There must be some kind of misunderstanding."
Kendrick came down the stairs and made his presence known. " No, there hasn't. Grandma and I decided that you need help. You can't keep living like this. Dad is dead."
Y/N slowly backed up and tried to run but the two men grabbed her before she could get far. Y/N tried to get out of their grip but they were too strong. She kicked and screamed. "I'M NOT CRAZY, KEITH, BABY LET THEM KNOW YOU'RE HERE. KENDRICK PLEASE DON'T DO THIS. BABY!" Y/N voice echoed as they dragged her out of the van. The last thing she saw was Kendrick breaking down on the staircase and Keith approaching him.
The only thing that was heard was Kendrick crying through the now silent house. Kendrick felt a hand touch his shoulder. He slowly looked up and was surprised to see the person in front of him. "Dad?"
