Ever since he had joined the knights of Camelot and started living in Camelot, you had been unable to stop thinking about Sir Gwaine. You were entranced by his eyes.
So, you made an effort to be around him as often as possible. You ensured that you were always in the kitchen when he came for an apple. When you were serving in a banquet, you made sure that you were serving at his part of the room.
But you knew that you couldn't be with him. A knight marrying a kitchen maid? Preposterous, most would say. Then, when Arthur Pendragon became the king and married Guinevere, your hopes were raised. All you needed was for Gwaine to see you.
And he did.The king and his knights of the round table were going on a long journey, and the King had requested for a kitchen hand to travel with them. Naturally, you were the first person to volunteer, so the head cook allowed you to go.
You packed your things for this long journey. It wasn't until you had been traveling with them for half an hour that you remembered what you were leaving behind. It was your first time on a long journey away from Camelot. Camelot was your home, and the only place in the world where you felt safe. So, it was only natural that you were scared.
You fell out of your thoughts to find that you had stopped moving and that one of the knights was standing beside you, asking if you were okay. You looked up at him. It was Sir Gwaine. You smiled and nodded. "Sorry, sire," you stuttered. "I should try not to think too much, next time."
You carried on walking, feeling your cheeks and ears burn a bright magenta.
"Hey, wait up!" he called, jogging to catch up with you. When he was walking beside you, he asked you the question you had hoped to hear. "Aren't you the maid that always serves me in banquets?" he asked.
You nodded, ears and cheeks burning fuchsia. "It's (Y/N), isn't it?" Again, you nodded, not feeling brave enough to speak. "I like you, (Y/N). You always put the apples near me." He wrapped his arm around your shoulders and the two of you walked together.
Neither of you said anything, but you didn't mind. He'd just said that he liked you!A/N ~ I am not much of a Gwaine fan, myself... Well, not for imagining that I am in love with him, anyway. But, I know that there are quite a few people who adore the apple loving knight, so I figured that I may as well please others. So, here you go! I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you keep reading my terrible writing!
