FUCK!
I rush towards a fainting Haley so that I am able to catch her before she drops to the floor.
I immediately notice her flushed face and how hot she feels.
"What's wrong with her?", Dean wants to know and it takes all my willpower to not scream at him.
He just ruined everyting. I did not know Haley was there listening to our conversation, otherwise I would not have said those things, but Dean was aware of Haley's presence and used it to his advantage.
FUCK! I need to explain all of it to her.
The betrayed look in her eyes haunts me.
Haley trusted me and now she probably hates me.My shoulders slump, but I cannot let myself wallow in self pity just yet. First I need to get Haley home and in bed and then I am going to fix this!
Haley is burning up with fever and she looks so fragile right now.
"She has a fever. I need to get her home.", I tell him and pick Haley up bridal style.
I kiss her forehead and whisper again and again how sorry I am that she got to know of Dean's cheating and me lying to her this way.
Outside I notice that Dean is following us and I angrily shout at him: "Why are you still here? You harmed enough people today!"
This makes Dean stop in his spot and he lowers his gaze to the ground.
"I didn't mean to hurt her.", he stammers out, but I am furious with rage and tell him: "You hurt her twice already."
Dean nods his head, looks me defeated in the eyes and says: "You're right. I don't deserve Haley, I never did, but with you she's so different, so happy. Be good to her okay?"
I want to shout more profanities at him. Who the hell was he to ask me for favous? Of course I would be good to Haley, that is if she is willing to listen to me first.
However, I manage to keep my mouth shut and nod once at Dean before opening my car door and laying Haley carefully on the back seat.
When I climb into the driver's seat Dean is already gone. Honestly I am glad that Dean does not seem to be an issue anymore, but just because he is out of the picture does not mean Haley is going to accept my apology.
Fuck! I seriously messed up!
Chase told me yesterday after he came home from Laura's I should explain to Haley why Dean broke up with her and I agreed, but I wanted more time.
Only if I had known that I did not have time on my side I would have told Haley everything yesterday.
I pull up on her driveway and immediately jump out of the car as soon as I have it in park.
Carefully I pick Haley up again and for a moment I am really scared that I will never get to hold her like this again. What if Haley does not forgive me for lying to her and everything would be over?
I press another kiss to her forehead and desperately hope that this kiss will not be our last.
My heart hurts just thinking about it.
I ring the door bell and her mother opens the door.
When she notices Haley in my arms she immediately takes action and lets me in.
On my way upstairs to Haley's room I explain to her: "Haley fainted. I think she is running a fever."
Her mom replies: "I bet she caught Matt's fever, but I'm sure she'll be fine in a couple of days just like him!"
