The Confrontation

Ethan's POV:
(Mararison Island, 3 Weeks Ago)

Naramdaman niyang umupo sa tabi niya si Darren. He actually regretted what he just acted in front of him and Nica but he couldn't help it. He was blinded by jealousy and the feeling was too new for him to handle.

"You should stop keeping her hopes up." simula niya. Gulat na napatingin sa kanya si Darren.

"What made you say that? She's my friend, our friend." ani Darren na tila hindi makapaniwala sa sinabi niya.

"That's not what I see. You're treating her like she's someone special to you and I can already clearly see where this is going.... her, getting hurt." aniya.

"She is, someone special... and I know that's what she is to you too." ani Darren na tila iniintindi pa ang pinagsasabi niya.

"I just don't want her to get hurt bro. We both know that she's into you. What if she'll expect for something you can't possibly give her?" paliwanag niya.

Darren didn't respond. Matamang nakatitig lang ito sa asul na dagat na tila may iniisip. Maya maya'y napabuntong hininga ito.

"You like her." ani Darren sabay tingin sa kanya. Napaawang ang bibig ni Ethan. Actually, hindi na siya nagulat sa sinabi nito. His feelings for her is as clear as the seawater in front of them.

"Let me rephrase that... you, actually love her." dagdag ni Darren. Napabuntong hininga si Ethan.

"I'm sorry for acting like a jerk. The feeling is unfortunately getting out of control." amin niya na ang tinutukoy ay ang inakto niya kanina nang makitang nagtatawanan sina Nica at Darren sa beach. Sandaling katahimikan ang dumaan.

"I understand. We've been friends since kindergarten. You had your fair share of liking and crushing on girls but... I never saw you like this. You never acted like this before." napayuko siya. Hindi niya alam kung ano ang sasabihin. Kilalang kilala siya ni Darren at tama ang lahat ng sinabi nito.

"Just wanna tell you that I don't have any hard feelings with regards to your friendship with Nica. I saw it coming. She likes you so much and believe me, I did try to ignore the hurt and the jealousy. They were just too stubborn to let me get away." aniya na tuluyan nang inilabas ang lahat ng paghihirap ng kalooban. Darren is his bestfriend and tama lang na ito ang sabihan niya ng nararamdaman.

"You must really had it bad huh?" anito na bahagya nang nakangiti. Maybe to ease the tension that built up. Ethan smiled a bit.

"She's different and I just can't keep myself from falling for her." aniya

"Yeah, I know how it feels." tila wala sa sariling sabi nito sabay buntong-hininga. Gulat siyang napatingin kay Darren.

"A-are you also inlove with her?" diretsa niyang tanong dito. Actually he saw it coming with the way he treated her. Katulad ni Darren, ngayon niya lang din nakita itong ganun sa isang babae.

"What if I am?" seryosong sagot ni Darren habang mataman na nakatitig sa kanya. Nawalan ng kulay ang mukha niya. He knew it! Pero iba pala talaga pag ito mismo ang nagpahiwatig. This couldn't be happening! They couldn't be inlove with the same girl. They had a promise when they were still in Canada and that is to not love the same girl. This is against their bro code.
