The sky was orange. The harbor was teeming with activity. People were cheering for America's victory. Loui stood in front of his friend. Jacques was going to return to France. "Don't get yourself killed....I know Britain still has their hands on you...."
"I think I'll hold up, ami." He patted his chest. Loui gave him a sturdy hug. Jacques started to board when a small voice squeaked through the crowd.
"WAIT! JUST A SEC!" Topaz came bounding through the mass of people, holding her skirt off her legs. She had chicken feathers in her hair. Jacques stopped and grinned. She stopped in front of them and bent over to pant.
"Woah....dress...." A blush spread across the Frenchman's cheeks.
"I know it's weird!"
"No it looks good! I kinda like it....."
"Ok love birds." Loui teased. Topaz gave him a firm punch in the arm. He winced. "Ow! Sorry!" She scowled at him before wrapping her arms around her friend's waist.
"Farewell! Don't forget to write!" Jacques patted her back. She pulled away and handed him a feather. It was the feather from his hat. "To remember me by!"
"Thank you." He bowed out of habit. His General yelled something in French and he started to back up.
"Bye......" Loui waved. Topaz waved with both hands.
"Bye!"
"Farewell mon amour...." He ruffled her hair and gave Loui and slight salute before stepping onto the boat. The French Revolution awaits.Jesus I'm tired. Thanks for reading!
