Mark smiled at Nicky and tried to see in his eyes what his line was. He never forgot his lines, but today everything felt different than normal. He didn't know why, because when he left home this morning Sheila sat at the kitchen table and he remembered being so proud, she was doing so great, fighting the demons in her head. It was just two weeks to go, before she would go into labor. The baby had been quiet the last week and she had turned in the right direction, which was very important, Dave had told him. Nevertheless everything was going just fine when he left, so he felt completely at ease, when they went to Liverpool.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains....
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seasMark was glad he remembered the lines again of the song he loved the most, when suddenly in the corner of his eye, he noticed commotion at John and Freddy. They all tried not to look, to perform the best they could , but it was hardly doable as Freddy's complete body was expression that something was wrong. He pointed at the lads and waved with his hands in the air. When they were finally finished and the lads walked of stage after the screaming only got worse because the fans didn't want them to leave, John walked up to Mark with Freddy close behind him. Without an introduction he pulled Mark on his arm and said excited, "Sheila is in labor, the helicopter is ready to take you to London!" "What! That's impossible! Everything was fine when I left. What happened?!" Mark got all upset, because this morning the baby didn't even move. Or was something wrong, because Sheila didn't feel their baby girl any more? "Come on bro, don't think the worse." Nicky said smiling and hit him on the back. "Your little girl just doesn't want to see your ugly face, the moment she comes into this beautiful world". "I can understand that" and he grinned. Mark smiled just shortly. "I'll bet she thought that" he mumbled and started running after Freddy. Outside a taxi was waiting to bring them to the helicopter platform, who would fly them all back to London.
An hour flying never felt as long as it did this time. Mark wished he could ask the pilot to fly faster, but he also realized this way of transportation, for a man who had to be on time for his wife who was being in labor, was very special already. On the roof of the hospital, Mark saw people waiting for them to arrive. He couldn't wait to loosen his seatbelt and jump out of the helicopter.
With a heart beating wildly, he ran into the surgery department. He didn't even have to ask were Sheila was, as he already heard her screaming. Mark got all pale, scared of what he was going to witness. She's in here sir, the nurse said slightly shy, an nodded towards the door as if he didn't understand he had to walk through it, to find his wife. He knew that alright! But he didn't know how to feel. If he could handle the pain she was suffering. Slowly he walked into the room and saw at least six people standing around Sheila. Christie had her nursery clothes on, which made it clear to Mark, she would help Sheila to deliver the baby. It was Sheila's biggest wish and he was delighted, the hospital made it possible. Dave stood next to her listening to the instructions Christie gave to the staff.
He heard someone calling his name and before he knew what happened, he was standing next to Sheila holding her hand and kissing her forehead. "Oh baby, I am so glad you're here", Sheila cried and screamed out loud, while she almost squeezed Mark's hand to pieces. He didn't know, pregnant woman could be that strong. Christie smiled and said laughing, "yes Mister Feehily, making the baby has been the easiest part in your case" and she blinked at a blushing Mark as Sheila got another contraction. "Try not to scream sweetie", Christie said calmly. "Focus on your breathing and during the next contraction you're aloud to push." Mark's eyes widened. "Is she coming now already?" "Yes! You're here now, so we can finish it". "She didn't wanted to do anything" Dave said frowning as if he blamed Sheila for that. Mark looked at her and their eyes met. Tears came in his eyes as he shook his head. "I love you so much" Sheila said softly and scream the next moment of the pain she felt inside. Focus! Christie yelled and Sheila lay her chin on her chest to push as hard as she could. For Mark it felt like hours, but within twenty minutes he suddenly heard Christie scream that the baby was coming and in the next moment he heard her cry. A little baby girl's cry. His baby girl...
