Chapter 28 - Gone!!!!

Elise POV

It's been 2 weeks since Sarah was reinstated and so far everything had gone amazing. Mam took Fran for most the week and she came to work with Sarah on a Wednesday,

"How many more exams do you have left now babe?" Sarah asked as we were sat watching an episode of 'The Mentalist',

"Erm, not many about 2 I think" I replied Fran started crying through the baby monitor which was sat on the coffee table

"I'll go" Sarah said as she stood up and disappeared upstairs; 2 minutes later I heard the creak of the door open as Sarah's soft breaths as she sorted Fran out. Taking the remote I flicked through the TV,

"What we watching?" Sarah asked coming into the room,

"Don't know there's nothing on" I shrugged as Sarah came and laid down on the sofa placing her head on my lap, I began playing with her hair whilst flicking through trying to find something to watch; I glanced at the time and saw it was 22:05,

"I'm going to bed" my hand stopped mid stroke in Sarah's hair as she lifted from my lap,

"I'll be up in a bit" she pecked my lips before letting me go, heading upstairs I popped into Francesca's room to check on her like I did every night and went to bed myself.

Just as I was drifting off to sleep I felt the bed dip and Sarah's arm snake around my waist encasing me in a hug; I held her hand as it rested in front of me on my stomach as I leaned back into her and laid comfortably before drifting off to sleep.

A nipping wind nipped as my face as a sudden mist of cold air circled the room, I glanced round and saw the window was open and assumed Sarah had opened it during the night, I turned back round and saw the light from the landing on which was strange the light is always turned off and our door is always shut before we go bed. I shuffled from the comfort and warmth on the duvet cover and shuffled over to the window shutting it; I then shuffled over to the door to turn off the light when I had noticed a cold chill coming from Francesca's room, popping my head into her room I saw that her window was also open, I shuffled over to her window and shut hers too wrapping my arms around my waist as I glanced out of the window, I turned around to check in on her and saw that the sleeping form of my beautiful baby girl was nowhere to be seen, a wave of nausea descended upon me as my heart sunk into the pit of my stomach and was ripped from my body and was trampled on,

"Sarah" it came out as a whisper, "Sarah" I said again this time a little louder, "SARAH!" I screamed bloody murder just as I heard the loud bang of Sarah as she headed towards the room as waterfalls of tears cascaded down my cheeks

"Elise, honey what's-" I took her abrupt silence as an indication of what she too had witnessed in front of her,

"Sarah, sarah" I began to hyperventilate as my sobs became louder and louder as I subsided to the floor hugging my knees, "Sarah she's gone; Sarah" that's all I could say her name over and over again giving me a fraction of comfort but not enough knowing that my baby girl was somewhere possibly in danger she had been taken right from under our noses and was gone, gone from our lives,

"Hello, I need a police officer at my house immediately it's an emergency" I heard Sarah's desperate voice behind me, "there's a police officer on their way sweetie just hold on in there" she had dropped to her knees beside me as she pulled me into her arms and encased me in her arms cooing soft tones into my ear.

10 minutes later the knocking on the front door signalled the police officer had arrived, Sarah released me and stood up headed for the front door leaving me in silence in Francesca's room, as Sarah had disappeared I stood up and wandered over to the empty cot picking up her soft pink blanket holding it up to my face as the sweet smell of baby powder smelling like Francesca hit my nose. I descended to the floor again as I clutched her blanket close to me as I sobbed and sobbed into her blanket wishing that it was all a dream and none of this had actually happened. Soft footsteps came into hearing distance as Sarah and two police officers came into view,
