Sarah POV

I'm sat beside Mrs. Whithers at graduation as I watched each and every one of my student graduate and finish with huge smiles on their faces; all except one. Elise was still in the hospital she had been out for the past week she had slipped into a coma by the time she had got to hospital; Doctors told me she nearly didn't survive, they also mentioned that she had been hit in the lower abdomen area and lost a hell of a lot of blood but he said she was lucky every person he had cared for with a wound like that had died within 3 days of being in his care, which shed a little bit of hope on the situation; I saw Carlie in the crowd holding Francesca in her hands as she had her balanced on her knee as she played with her toy bunny I had bought her,

"Now today one of our honoured student, Elise Avery, couldn't be with us today as she was involved in an accident last week and slipped into a coma so her Mam has come today on her behalf to say a few words" said Mrs Whithers, "Mrs Avery would you like to come down" she smiled as I saw Carlie rise from her seat and head towards stage. Climbing on stage she passed me and handed me Francesca, I took hold of her and planted a kiss on her temple; even though Elise hadn't been in the house Francesca smelled like her perfume probably the fact that she had been sleeping in the bed beside me the past couple nights,

"Erm, Hi" Carlie started, "sadly Elise couldn't be here today but if I know my daughter like I think I should she would be thanking everyone of her friends here today for helping her through her rough patch she had earlier in the year with her former girlfriend, she would be thanking each of her teachers for everything they had done for her and she would personally be thanking her girlfriend for helping her through the past few months and helping her with her daughter after Jayne's sad passing" Carlie's speech moved me her words hit home and I just sat and buried my face into Fran as I held her close to my chest as I cried,

"Sarah would you like to say something?" I heard Mrs Whithers whisper to me,

"What would I say?" I asked, "I can't exactly tell the school she is my girlfriend" I shook my head at her,

"I don't see the problem" she shrugged,

"Erm" I contemplated her offer, "a quick few words" I replied,

"Okay, Mrs. Avery thank you for that lovely speech we will keep Elise in our prayers" she smiled as she hugged her before letting her go,

"Do you want me to take Fran?" she asked as she passed me,

"No, It's fine I want to keep hold of her she smells like Elise" I smiled she offered me a small smile back as she climbed down from the stage and took her seat back in the audience, I walked up to the podium with my little girl in my arms,

"Erm, I think the most important well the first thing is congratulations for graduating" I smiled, "but I think the most important thing I have learnt this year is not to take things for granted as much as I have I have learned to love and to care, for something much smaller than me" I looked towards Fran and smiled at her,

"If someone asked me this time last year where I would see myself I would have simply said nowhere special nowhere as special as what I have here with my baby girl Francesca and my amazing girlfriend" as I said that whispers emitted throughout the huge hall,

"Yes go on whisper all you want, Elise and I have been closer than anything the past few months we've had Francesca and even though things didn't work out with my ex I still feel as loved today as I did from the first day I met her six years ago" Francesca started blowing raspberries as I held her on my hip which made me laugh,
