Chapter 40 - First Christmas

Elise POV

It was currently two days before Christmas; my first few months at College have been amazing; it's much better than school ever was; I applied to study Chemistry; Psychology; English Lit and Maths. I was currently sat on the sofa watching the proposal with Sarah; sat under a blanket and a bowl of popcorn on top of the blanket

"Oh I got one of Francesca's Christmas presents sent to your Mom's so we'll have to go pick it up" Sarah muttered as she popped a piece of popcorn into her mouth,

"What is it?" I say grabbing some popcorn from the bowl,

"It is...a silver sterling bracelet with stars and a plaque with her name engraved onto it" she replied,

"Aww, bet it looks as nice as it sounds" I linked my arm through hers as I lay my head on her shoulder. Ever since that awkward conversation a week before I started college which went a something a little like this:

~Flashback~

"Baby if you wanted a cat or a dog you could have just went and-"

"No, Elise honey I didn't mean a pet I meant another Francesca" I dropped her hands and looked at her,

"Another baby" I asked shocked,

"Yeah" she stood and shook her head, "babe if it's too much just tell me open up" I just stood and stared at her and the thought of two children running around,

"Babe I'm 19 I'm in University" I said gobsmacked, "I want to live a little more before thinking of having another kid in the house, I know we have Francesca and all but that was because I am her legal parent; I didn't plan on having Francesca but I'm not regretting anything I just didn't think in my wildest dreams ever I would be gay and have a child at 19"

"All you needed to say was no" she averted her eyes looking at the sand beneath our feet,

"It's not a no, but it's not a yes" I said, "Just not yet" she nodded and took my hand as we continued walking up the beach

~End of flashback~

Ever since then she hasn't been the same she has been somewhat distant and secretive; she swore that night that she wasn't bothered about it and she knew that I meant what I said about wanting another child just not yet,

"Do you want a drink?" Sarah asked as she stood up,

"Nah I'm good" I replied; I glanced at the clock on the box where the time showed; 21:00, I heard her sigh as she disappeared into the kitchen; I couldn't stand her coldness anymore so I grabbed my keys and headed over to my Mam's. Climbing into the car I backed down the drive just as Sarah came to the door, I ignored her incessive cries and fled towards Mam's house. Once I arrived I parked just outside and climbed out the car and approached the door; I opened the door and shouted through,

"Mam!"

"Elise, honey what you doing here?" she asked as she wrapped her robe around her body tighter,

"Just need a little break" I replied as I headed for the sofa and sat down, just then my mobile rang looking at the ID it read 'Sarah' I threw it beside me and let it ring out,

"Who's that?" Mam asked as she walked into the room with one of her famous hot chocolates,

"Just Sarah" I replied taking a sip,
