Chapter 47 - Acceptance and commitment

Sarah POV

Xavier had been home about 3 weeks now and as far as things are concerned its going too well.

The sound of Xavier crying from Elise's side of the bed stirred me,

"Babe" she said sleepily, sighing I stood up and went round to the other side of the bed for the third time tonight; picking him up I held him to my chest and carried him downstairs and proceeded to heat up one of his bottles,

"Mammy just needs some time" I said talking to him whilst waiting for his bottle to heat up, "she loves you really" I kissed his forehead just as the microwave pinged behind me. Removing his bottle from the microwave I tested it on my wrist as you do and sat down on the sofa and began to feed him his bottle, switching the TV on I flicked through the channels; getting through work tomorrow is going to be hell I've been up three times already since eight last night and it's only one in the morning.

*beep* *beep* *beep*

I rolled over and allowed the silence to overcome me, I climbed out of bed and quietly headed for the shower being careful not to wake Elise or Xavier up. I hopped in the shower and climbed out before getting ready for my day ahead; I slipped on a pair of work trousers, a shirt and grabbed my blazer before heading downstairs for breakfast. I was worried that Elise was avoiding bonding with Xavier and that caused me some worry,

"Hi Carlie"

"Sarah hi how are things going, I haven't seen you guys in a while"

"Yeah listen I need you to come and watch Elise and the kids today" I said,

"Is everything okay sweetie?" she asked concerned,

"Erm, I don't know I just need some guidance" I said,

"I'll be over shortly just sit tight" I heard her say before she ended the call,

"Mammy mammy" Francesca came running into the kitchen,

"Morning sweetie" I picked her up and placed her on my knee,

"Guess who's coming over" I said bouncing her on my knee,

"Who?"

"Nana Carlie" I said she squealed with excitement and jumped down off my knee shouting 'yey' as she circled the table,

"Okay sweetie settle down Mammy is still in bed and so is Xavier"

"Sorry"

"Let's grab you some breakfast" I said putting her in her high chair, "What do you want Fran" she had a thinking face on,

"Waffs" she said,

"That's my girl" I smiled at her before kissing the top of her head and heading over to put her some waffles in the toaster; as I pushed down her waffles a cheery voice came from the front hallway,

"Morning"

"We're in the kitchen Carlie"

"Nana" Fran started squeezing her hands as Carrie came through the kitchen door,

"Oh how is my little girl" she said as she kissed her forehead,

"What's the problem?" Carrie asked as I placed her a cup of coffee in front of her before I handed Francesca her waffles,

"Can I speak to you in the sitting room" I smiled standing up and heading for the sitting room

"What's going on? " she asked perching herself on the arm of the sofa,

"I'm worried about Elise she's not bonding with Xavier as she should be, I mean it's like Xavier isn't a part of the family it's like he doesn't exist" I said slumping on the sofa,
