Beginning of June:

"Hurry y/n, the moving trucks are here!!!" yelled my dad from downstairs.

"IM COMING...let me just grab my guitar," I reply.

--Music is such a huge part of my life and I don't know what I would do without it.

My parents split up when I was 2 years old and I grew up going back and forth between houses, it was hard.

I moved in with my dad full time 1 year ago because my mom and I fought too much.

 Music was my coping mechanism.

For my 8th birthday, my dad got me guitar lessons.

--He's a musician and I've been singing since I was little, but I had always wanted to be able to play guitar.

I grab my guitar and run downstairs and put it in the car.

Today we are moving from Raleigh, North Carolina all the way to Dallas, Texas.

I just finished my sophomore year of high school and made so many friends at my school.

I know that the transition to a new school will be very hard, especially since everyone has already made their friend groups.

I'm a pretty outgoing person though so this shouldn't be too hard!!

My dad and I get in the car and wave one last goodbye to my childhood home.

Throughout the 18 hour drive, my dad and I alternate driving and spend a night in a hotel.

We arrive at our new house. New neighborhood. New people. New town. New everything.

"You can handle this, you can handle this" I repeatedly tell myself.

We get out of the car and the moving trucks are already there moving boxes into the house.

I see a woman standing in the driveway of the house right next to ours with a little girl on her hip.

The little girl runs over to me and says with excitement, "Are you gonna be our new neighbor?!?!"

"Yes, I am!! My names y/n, and who might you be?"

"I'm Reese and I'm FIVE  years old!" the little girl says with a big smile.

"Oh, I'm so sorry she ran away from me so fast I couldn't catch her! My name is Myta by the way,  we are the Herron family and welcome to the neighborhood. My husband and son Ryan are inside I would love to introduce you and your father to them. Would you like to come over for dinner at 6:00 pm?"

"Oh, please don't worry I love kids! Actually, my dad and I didn't have any dinner plans yet so that would be great, thank you." I reply. It's true, I have always had a soft spot for little kids :)

A few hours go by and we are STILL unpacking boxes. It's about 5:30 and I decide to take a break so that I can shower and wash off my sweaty gross body.

When I get out of the shower I put on my favorite pair of jean shorts from American Eagle,  a floral top, and my black and white Adidas shoes.

We are now ready to go eat dinner with our first friends in the new neighborhood!!
